When VF5 Online hits Games On Demand, I hope it gets more people playing. I can hardly find matches online anymore. My Aoi is VERY alone.

Virtua Fighter 5 remains the best 3D fighter ever made. Even better if you have access to a 5R machine.

Now, if only more people had paid attention to that fact when it first came out. It only got reviews of 9.5 or up and promises of it being pretty easy to get into and extremely hard to master with solid online play and a fantastic training mode and customizable clothing and all that stuff that people seem to think Tekken did first when it clearly did not.

I really think that "one of the better fighting games this generation" needs to be rewritten to "the best reviewed fighting game this generation or possibly in any generation." I'm pretty sure it had multiple 10s.

@Ueziel: I think that part of its relative lack of success is its release date. Had it have rode off the tails of street fighter 4, a game which pushed arcade sticks into the hands of needy yet monied up youths, i could see many people (with their pricey mad catz and Hori fighting sticks) thinking, "What else can i use this thing for?". I know that once i had bought my stick (for sf4) i went about collecting all the fighting games i had neglected (vf5, doa4, sc4, sf2:thdr). However many people wouldn't be interested in old fighters when they have just spent over £100 on their current fiighting game setup.
Im sure that we will see lesser quality fighters *cough* Tekken *cough* garner much more attention and sales in the aftermath of street fighter whilst virtua fighter will be left for the bargin bins across the country.

@simplyPARTICLE: Also it has absolutely atrocious UI. Choosing a new outfit is about the least intuitive thing I can imagine. And if you are playing single player in one of those arcade things and you win and decide you have played enough games, it takes, literally about 40 seconds (the time to load the next fight and the intro animations of the next fight) before you can even pause the game to quit out.

I love the fighting part of the game, but the package it comes in is simply inexcusable.

@simplyPARTICLE: Why is Tekken a "lesser quality" fighter?

The one thing that Tekken does right is that there's all sorts of explosions and special effects when someone gets hit and it makes up for the lack of feeling in VF when someone gets hit.

Seriously I get VF's many options and balance and all that. But at the end of the day, Tekken still possesses a skill gap where better players will win over worse ones, and just values different skills than VF.

I would hope games on demand could be used to counter the scarcity of some rare games. For example, Bladestorm is already going for a premium price new because of the small run it had. Release it digitally and gamers could get it at a more reasonable price.

All platforms (that aren't owned by Nintendo) currently have full retail games on sale through the internet as direct downloads.

I knew Sega Channel was innovative back in 1994!

Come sega. Virtua Fighter is one of the only franchises you have left that hasn't been raped with substandard releases. Can we please get a goddamn update on PS3 already. One of the reasons I got a 360 so long ago was because it got a better version of VF5 and I truly regret that decision because the 360 pad is absolute trash for fighting games. No, I didn't not want to spend even more money on an arcade stick when I haven't played with one in over 10 years considering all the arcades in Philly died save one.

So get with it, release on update or another VF on PS3 with PSN support. Soul Caliber 4 disappointed with it's cheesy, broken, unbalanced gameplay, Tekken 6 is going to be another wall rape, button mash juggle fest (but damn if Marshal Law isn't a total beast in that game and worth the price of admission alone. BRUCE LEE FOREVAAAAR! LOL) VF5 is still the best 3D fighting game money can buy. Why leave the fans high and dry?

The actual news about VF is that the community had a mass post frenzy on Facebook untill Sega came out to say "No plans for R on console". Now they delete any VF comments.
