I see this has been pointed out, but I think it's pretty significant, so I'll do it again: They did NOT use a swastika in their logo. They just replaced the swastika with a CD/DVD.
Actually, the swastika originally replaced a piece of paper (an icon used to prevent littering). #germany

Never heard of a stupidest idea of censorship-wannabe than this:
1 - Doesn't work for obvious logical reasons.
2 - They're just pretending the "problem" doesn't exist by "hiding" it in a dumpster, instead than trying to be proactive and discuss the so called "problem" and trying to solve it with actual ideas.
I think they were just hoping to rally up a good number of overprotective parents (which ironically would be the ones who bought the games, alas the ones at fault, no wonder they didn't go either). #germany

2. The guy throwing trash in the trashcan is an image you see all over the place because it's used on public trashcans.
3. It didn't go well, in the end they had like 4 games. These 4 games beeing: GTA San Andreas (PS2), Def Jam Fight for New York (PS2), Small Soldiers (GameBoy) and a copy of the freeware game Open Arena.
Funny enough the two PS2 games still had their foil on them and price stickers which makes it likely that the advocacy group themselfs bought these games to throw them in.
It gets even funner: The mass media is reporting that at least two dozen people threw games away, with serveral copies of counter strike between them.
While gamers on the internet are sharing the truth, that beeing that only the 4 games you see in the video above have been in the container at the end of the "event". Funny enough these people from TV stations even staged throwing in scenes with kids (as seen on the youtube video in this post)
Serveral TV stations shot that same scene, with the same two kids and the same two games. Overall pretty embrassing event.. but that wouldn't stop them from calling it an "success" because after all it's the symbolic character that counts.

The base logo is a long running anti litter thing often found on packaging at least in Europe.
The swastika logo is from a German anti Nazi campaign of a few years ago (you see what they did, replacing the litter with a swastika, clever stuff!)
The CD one is from this anti violent games campaign. They replaced the litter with a CD this time. Still not that clever but there you go.
The Nazi/swastika cd/book burning comparison is a bit of tabloid hyperbole to get everyone frothy. #germany

The Xbox dumpster is overflowing because it has so many games, all of them are Gears of War or Halo sequels. The Xbox dumpster is of course full of ESRB rated games, becuase we all know that only whiny fat American teenagers play Halo and Gears.
The PS3 dumpster would be full by now but none of the PS3 owners knew about the event because no one talks to anyone else on PSN due to it being vastly inferior to LIVE.
If you're going to troll, you could at least do it properly.
Edit: PC doesn't get a dumpster because PC gaming is dead and no one has discs because they already pirated everything. Twice.

You know that is a terrible stereo type. I am not fat or whiny and I play Halo and Gears. (Only with friends though so I am not completely senile)
That's like saying all gothic kids cut themselves and PS3 fanboys like to suck their own dicks to prove their system is worth it....see it just doesn't work.
If someone did throw a game away, I would so go and pick it up and keep it. Hey one man's trash and is another man's treasure right? #germany

It was a joke, satire, a parody of common trolling statements and I aimed one at every major in-home gaming platform (and PC :P).
I was hoping that you, and the other readers (including @JYJ705 who definitely gets it), would see that I had poured scorn on each platform in equal measure and therefore realise that despite only owning a PS3, DS and PSP, I am not a fanboy and that I find all this point scoring fanboyism...well... pointless.
I am not going to leap to the conclusion that you genuinely believe that PC is dead, that PS3 gamers don't use mics and the Wii has no games, these statements are all baseless and untrue, just as my comments re:Halo and Gears players are untrue. Nor will I assume that because you leapt upon my statements regarding the minority of Americans who are both whiny and fat (yes there are some) that you are somewhat self concsious about your voice and/or figure.
Rather I think the root cause of your ire is that you lack a degree of reading comprehension or vocabulary, given that you seem to believe that having a number of friends is in someway proof that you are not mentally or physically infirm through old age.
Perhaps in an ironic twist you are a silver surfer and your misunderstanding of the word senility (along with the rest of my comment) is because you are in fact senile?
Oh and yes, a wall of text probably did just crit you for 9,999. Sorry about that.
