A 2 gig MP3 player? Are they joking? I don't even see how it's possible to use one that small. Why not just sell the tracks instead of loading them onto what is essentially a overpriced, oversized flash drive? #videogameslive
@XINVADER: Well, Fire Mario bought his that morning at the halloween shop, and I'm kinda attatched to mine, so they'll just have to do. It's a little tough finding a suitable mustache when transferring a cartoon into real life. #videogameslive
The facepaint is stage makeup, the bodysuit was bought, and the overalls were hand/machine made. As for the coloration, that's mostly the lighting, both the fabric and the face makeup are fairly reflective, so when you take the picture in yellow light, it comes out yellow. All the fabric is quite silver, I should know, I put it together. And Mario's always been on the heavier side of things so there #videogameslive
@TheVegetarianBurgerKing: It's a body suit for the most part. You can see it on his neckline where the suit stops. The neck and face are painted though.
@CowPieSoup: Whoops. My bad. I'll go change that. Thanks for that. Bit late here so i think I'll save myself anymore embarrassment and retire for the night. Tired
@TheVegetarianBurgerKing: It's not spraypaint, it's stage makeup. In hindsight I don't suppose that's much better, but just in case you were wondering #videogameslive
@n00b_pwner: Is that the joke? As in he's a rare metal mario (as in rare earth metal). Cause if it is McWhertor, it just doesn't work. Maybe I'm thinking too much into it. #videogameslive
I went to the show at GenCon last year while I was attending the convention. Even at 45 bucks, I can't really recommend the show.
Too many overused tracks (I counted three uses of "One Winged Angel"), Tommy Tallerico won't just get to the music and the show itself and I felt like I was watching a 15 minute commercial for Diablo III which was "a special treat for the convention" by listening to generic dark fantasy music with some production shots on the screen for something that will look completely different come 2011. On top of that, when they were taking requests for video game piano music someone asked "Play Some Kirby" to which Tommy replied "No one wants to hear that."
That said, I enjoyed the medley of classic games in the beginning, Civilization was more fun than I'd expect and the "Guest interaction segments" (where they got people to play Guitar Hero and Space Invaders on stage) was enjoyable to watch.
For those going and want to pick up a soundtrack (their store had some nice variety) they take cash only.
Has anyone been to the other video game concert shows besides VGL? How was your experience there?
