That's it! People build Gradius ships out of LEGO for the whole month, post them on Flickr, we all applaud and say together "what a brilliant idea this was, thank you".

<![CDATA[The Gradius III Vic Viper Is A Sexy Space Fighter Option]]> If you're the type who decided that the Gradius II version of the Vic Viper starfighter should represent but a fraction of your PVC space armada, you may want to hunt down an import retailer for the follow up.

The new Gradius III version of the Vic Viper doesn't deviate too far from the design path, but comes in a classy off-white and with a sleeker chassis.

This model kit from Atelier Sai is similarly priced to its predecessor at 4500 yen (or $42 US). It ships in May, after the the previously posted Vic hits hobbyist shelves. The backside of the ship is after this.

What else is there to say? Oh yeah. *droooooool*

<![CDATA[The Gradius II Vic Viper Model Shoots The Core Of My Heart]]> Another Gradius game is looking less and less likely, now that talk of Gradius VI for the PlayStation 3 has been completely silenced, but shmup fans can at least remember the good old days with this excellent Vic Viper model.

Based on the Gradius II design and expected to ship in April, the Atelier Sai distributed ship follows a trio of previous Vic Vipers. Those three were based on Konami's slightly creepy Sky Girls anime, which featured spindly teenage girls in exoskeletons. Targeted at the aircraft fetishists who like women with wings for legs, the Sky Girls Vic Vipers were tainted with off-canon colors, but still looked pretty snazzy.

Fortunately, that's all in the past.

The 7.75" Gradius II Vic Viper model should set you back about $42 US (or 4500 yen) if you find a retailer who stocks it. Play-Asia carried the previous versions, if you're so inclined.

If you want to pick me up a pair—the second for a custom Player Two paint job—I won't refuse.
