Not only did it inspire him to create a comic featuring the worst babysitting choice in the history of parental irresponsibility, but he also broke out his mad flash animation skills to create a music video for the song that I listen to over and over again on my iPod whenever the world conspires to drag me out of this chair and out into the harsh sunlight. No, not "Two Princes" by the Spin Doctors. That was last winter. Of course I am talking about "Still Alive", that epic tale of cake and lies. Nice to finally put a face to the voice, even if the face is just a series of blue blocks. Hit the link to check it out. Just go ahead now!

<![CDATA[VG Cats On Pokemon]]>

I really don't understand the whole Pokemon hub bub. I tried Diamond and I really just couldn't get into it. It seemed boring and rather repetitive and the only fun I really had was naming them ridiculous names like "Sparkles" and "Muffin." Needless to say I sold it to a friend a few days after getting it, all the while scratching my head in wonderment trying to figure out what the big deal was. So, when I saw last week's VG Cats comic, I wept tears of joy knowing that finally someone else felt my pain.

Surprisingly, this one is not done by creator Scott Roomsair, but by guest artist Shawn Handyside. While the art style doesn't have Scott's slickness, it's interesting to see someone else interpret his characters and the sharp humor is definitely there. It's kind of like when Billy guest draws Family Circus, only not stupid.

<![CDATA[Wii: The Money Shot]]>

I don't often link directly to comics mostly because there are so very many of them and I'm fairly certain you guys can get out there and find them yourselves.

But the latest VG Cats made me really laugh out loud and despite my constant use of the annoying lol, I don't do that too often. Also, I sorta started feeling that way too while playing Smooth Moves. It's good to know that my particularly sick mind isn't alone. Hit the link for the full comic and its oh so wonderful... um... money shot?

<![CDATA[My Ninty Valentine: VG Cats Wins]]> wrightlove.jpgThe battle was long and hard, but the war of the custom Nintendo valentine's day cards has come to a close. It was a grueling competition, despite none of the entrants actually being aware that there was one. The opening salvo was fired by Play-Nintendo, who came close to triumph with their Midna entry. Then came 4 color rebellion, who took a more heartfelt stance. Then there was VG Cats. In order to preserve your job and possibly mine, I'm kicking it past the jump.

It's amazingly disturbing, while at the same time adorable. It is the very essence of what Valentine's Day is all about. What loved one wouldn't adore being on the receiving end of such heartfelt sentiment? Hit the VG Cats page for more, including the Phoenix Wright one you see top right, and a couple probably safer alternatives to Kirby's insatiable appetite for...love.

Cards! Though I don't recommend using any of them [VG Cats].

<![CDATA[VGCats: Real is Brown]]> If you've been paying attention, you may have noticed that I love myself some VG Cats. I think Scott Ramsoomair either echoes my feelings on certain issues completely, or his work secretes some sort of pheromone that makes me agree with him. Take this week's comic on creating next-generation graphics for instance (click to see the full comic).
vgcatsnggraph.jpgEvery time I've seen a screenshot for Resistance, Lair, Gears of War, or any number of cutting-edge next-gen titles, I've been struck by the overabundance of poo-tone. It makes we wish everyone had taken UK Resistance's Blue Sky In Games campaign more seriously. In a way it reminds me of the early days of 3D acceleration, when all lights were either green or purple. Man, I'd kill for a green and purple game right about now.

<![CDATA[VG Cats Says Goodbye to the Cube]]> Aside from the titular cats, Pantsman, and Dr. Hobo with the dead squirrel phone, some of my favorite VG Cats characters are the game consoles themselves. Creator Scott Ramsoomair breathes life into the SNES, the Genesis, and many more, and he's more than ready to take that life away. In his latest comic he tackles the death of our boxy little friend named GameCube. vgcatsgcndeath.jpg
It's a heart wrenching tale full of hope loss, and lost hope. It features R.O.B. the robot as a doctor at the end of his rope, SNES as a mother watching her son waste away, and an Emmy Award worthy performance by GCN, as a little boy with a heart too big to die....almost.

<![CDATA[VG Cats eBay Art for Child's Play]]>

Scott Ramsoomair's VG Cats is probably my favorite web comic, combining my love for video games with my secret desire to be a furry. Scott has offered up some wonderful original VG Cats artwork for auction on eBay, with proceeds benefiting the Child's Play Charity. It features Aeris and Leo from his Phoenix Wright piece, and includes both a colored print and a special hacked inked sketch outtake.

If that doesn't strike your fancy, Scott has teamed up with the folks from Applegeeks, Staccato, and Angry Zen Master to create a web comic holiday postcard pack, featuring tactical holiday action! Seeing as the auction is up past $500, I opted to buy the cards. A box of 16 is $12, and all proceeds help the lil' chillins.

Now all we need to do is get Scott to update more than once every two weeks, and it will be the best Christmas evar!

<![CDATA[Spore's Ass-For-Eyes Option]]>

Man, those EA Maxis folks must really love VG Cats. The latest VG Cats comic is about Spore and how fucked up it would be to live in a world created by ass-obsessed 12-year-olds. Funny stuff and filled with tons of cartoons of ass-festooned creatures.

EA Maxis loved it so much they decided to replace the illustrations with identical in-game art of creatures made inside the game itself. In other words, Spore has an Ass-For-Eyes option. Sweet!
