Hearsay? Oh, totally, but Ars passes on that "In one 24-hour period, three workers were fired, and more interviews were scheduled for today that would likely end in termination."

The story comes from someone who appears to work in human resources or security, claiming that tracking down the offending GTA IV package thief isn't hard. Want to learn how you're going to be snatched, sticky fingered UPS man? Ars has the details.

<![CDATA[To Hungry Fanboys Steak=Wii=UPS Guy's Flesh]]> Here's an interesting anecdote: some GameStops are no longer getting specific information regarding their next Wii shipments. Apparently overzealous shoppers are searching for Wiis with such ferocity that they've been stalking UPS drivers—we use that word only semi-loosely—as they've figured out delivery routes well enough to anticipate drop offs and harass UPS drivers beforehand. Wow. Freak. Eeeeee.

<![CDATA[Kingdom Hearts Masters the Art of Shipping]]>

Don't tell me that Square Enix can't figure out how many copies of their Kingdom Hearts games they've sold. Maybe they can't get a precise number, but I know they could ballpark it.

Shipped, pfffft!

Nothing against Kingdom Hearts, because I'm sure most of those shipped titles actually sold, but this sort of piffle needs to stop showing up in press releases... and on....um... sites.

Yeah.

So Square says that the game is one of the top selling Playstation 2 titles of all time.

"When we first started developing KINGDOM HEARTS, we never imagined we would pass the 10 million mark so quickly," said series producer Shinji Hashimoto. "We are delighted and extremely grateful for the support from our fans around the globe. We hope to continue to provide games which fulfill your anticipation in the future."

Here's their UPS numbers:
KINGDOM HEARTS (North American Release: September 1st, 2002, PlayStation 2)
Japan: Over 1.5 million - North America: Over 3.0 million - Europe & PAL: Over 1.1 million
KINGDOM HEARTS: Chain of Memories (December 7th, 2004, Game Boy Advance)
Japan: Over 0.4 million - North America: Over 0.9 million - Europe & PAL: Over 0.2 million
KINGDOM HEARTS II (March 28 th, 2006, PlayStation 2)
Japan: Over 1.1 million - North America: Over 1.7 million - Europe & PAL: Over 0.7 million

<![CDATA[Lost Planet: One Million Shipper]]>

Capcom announces that it has shipped over a million copies of Lost Planet to America, Japan and Europe since going on sale.

Um... Congratulations?

Sony pulled this same stunt earlier. What is it with game companies announcing shipping numbers? That seems more like good news for Fed Ex and UPS. Why not announce shipping and units sold at *gasp* the same time?

<![CDATA[UPS Employees Charged with $19k in PS3 Thefts]]>

Three UPS employees were arrested earlier this month for allegedly stealing more than $19,000 worth of Playstation 3 consoles. The employees rerouted the systems to their day job at a sports company using stolen mailing labels, according to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office.

The men worked nights at UPS and shipped at least 20 of the PlayStation 3 units and 24 wireless video game controllers to their day job at Andrews Sport Company Inc. in Jefferson, using pilfered mailing labels, the arrest report said.

"They would take the (Andrews) labels and put them over the correct label . . . and then it would be shipped here," said Al Andrews, owner of the sports equipment wholesale company.

The three then sneaked the systems out the Andrews store.

Andrews said he and his company had no idea what the men were up to until a UPS security officer contacted him. Andrews said all three men have been fired from his company.

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.

<![CDATA[Penny Arcade Gets Best UPS Box Ever]]>

Gabe and Tycho over at Penny Arcade received their Nintendo comped DS Lite in this wonderful box. A box so wonderful that it may be the only box in existence to be the protagonist in its own film.

I love the trumpet fanfare. I need to figure out how to program it into my belt buckle so it plays every time I whip off my pants.
