The other perk, is not.

Insomniac Games has kept to the Ratchet series' tradition by making the newest installment on the PlayStation 3 aware of players' activity in the older ones. Having played — and reviewed — the new Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack In Time using a final retail copy, I was able to see how my save files for the last two games, 2007's Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction and 2008's Ratchet & Clank: Quest For Booty, affect the new game.

I had completed both previous PS3 Ratchets and had the following perks activated automatically when I started the new game:

-My Tools of Destruction save file classified me as a returning customer when I visited A Crack In Time's weapons-vending kiosks. I was given a discount. Thanks to the lower prices and my collection of new bolt money throughout the new game, I found myself lacking money to buy the next available item in the game only once.

-My Quest For Booty save unlocked the pirate hat you see my Ratchet avatar wearing atop this post. The avatar appear in the game's community section, which displays a variety of player accomplishments and stats, shows leaderboards for many of those accomplishments. Players can customize their Ratchet avatar or look up the records and avatars of their friends. The avatar is essentially a visual shorthand for some of the things you've accomplished. For example, the pistol that Ratchet is holding in that shot looks as it does in the game, where I attached mods and selected its paint job.

Those are the unlocks I found so far that relate to the earlier Ratchet games, confirmed by a Sony representative. If I find any more I'll let you know.

<![CDATA[Intel Gives The World Two Far Cry Missions]]> Intel have sponsored two bonus missions for Far Cry 2 on the PC as part of it's Game On promotion.

The Moroccan takes you to an abandoned Foreign Legion fort in Leboa-Sako territory, where you may find an old man with information on The Jackal (presumably not crucial information, or he would be in the main game... but, hey) while The American sees you tracking your predecessor to a Dogon village in the hope of finding an informant.

Both missions can be unlocked by downloading a patch from the Game On site, although The American is only available once you have completed The Moroccan.

<![CDATA[Iron Man Unlockable Outfits]]> ironmansuits.jpg I doubt many superheroes have had nearly as many costume changes as Iron Man has over the years, and Sega recognizes this fact by including several unlockable classic armors in the game. You've got your classic red and gold, the dull metal prototype version Stark crafted while in captivity, Hulkbuster armor, and even the Extremis suit, which a techno-virus infected Tony could keep inside the hollows of his bones. The extra armors are both a gift and a curse, however, to someone owning both an Xbox 360 and a PlayStation 3, as each platform is getting an exclusive. The 360 gets the Silver Centurion suit worn during the first Armor Wars, while PS3 buyers get the high-maintenance Ultimate Iron Man outfit. Right now I am leaning towards the 360 version, though I am sure once I hit the store I will break down into a tiny puddle of indecisiveness.

<![CDATA[Unlockable Costumes of God of War II]]> woodenswordguycostume.jpg

I was nosing around my copy of the God of War II Colossus Battle Demo disc after beating the shortish demo and noticed that they had Treasures listed under options on the main menu.

X-ing through I found it was a list of what I believe are the unlockables for the full version of the game, at least that's the only thing that makes sense since you need to beat the game or do other things that would be impossible on the demo to unlock them.

Hit the jump for the full list, including the description of the seven unlockable costumes.

Treasures
Hall of Titans: Seven rooms, seven challenges. Beat the game to unlock.
Arena of Fates: Control your own destiny and wage combat on your own terms. Achieve Titan rank in challenge mode.
Titan Mode: Beat the game to unlock.
Urns of Power: Collect precious urns and wield ultimate power. Beat the game to unlock.

Costumes
One: Kratos' life has always been an upstream battle.
Two: I always wondered what they did with the body.
Three: The path to revenge is a dark one.
Four: Why be a god when you can be a goddess.
Five: Classics never go out of style.
Six: The only thing that haunts a ghost is his past.
Seven: You worked so hard the first time, it would be a shame to let it go to waste.

Movies
High Res: Watch all of the cut-scenes in high resolution.
Story: Watch the cut-scenes chronologically.

Bonus DVD Content
Tech Art Pipeline

Voices of God of War II
Level Art Concepts
Creature Concept Art

Alright, get to guessing what exactly those costumes are. Here's hoping the first one is Kratos as a carp... or salmon.

<![CDATA[New Nintendogs Cart Coming?]]> nintendal.jpg

Nintendo of Europe Watch reports that a game entitled Nintendogs Dalmation and Friends has popped up on a European online game site. It would make sense for Nintendo to come out with another Nintendogs cart fiilled with fluffy new puppies. Currently the only way you can unlock a Dalmation is by finding a friend who has one or discovering a fire helmet while taking your dog for a walk. (I'm told it's on the extreme borders of the town.).

I don't know, Nintendogs has sort of run its course with me. Unless they added the ability to breed them or fight them I'd probably not be interested. What about you?
