To celebrate, Vogster sent along these amazingly-detailed figures.

Unbound Saga is based on Dark Horse's comic book of the same name. In it you play as Rick Ajax, a self-aware comic book hero, as he takes on "The Maker". The game includes 20 levels.

Look for them in an upcoming fundraiser giveaway.

<![CDATA[This Week In Video Game Comics]]> Here's a rundown of the new video game-based comics going on sale in comics shops in the U.S. this week, including the next Gears of War.

Click the thumbnails for more details.

Unbound Saga One-Shot... Written by Mike Kennedy; Art by Cliff Richards, Al Rio Via publisher Dark Horse Comics: Rick Ajax ain't got time nor patience for trouble, but trouble seems to make plenty of time for him. If it ain't one thing, it's something else, and those things always seem to need a good old-fashioned pounding to put to rest. Lori Machete, on the other hand, can't help but get into trouble like the proverbial fox in a henhouse. She may be easy on the eyes, but she can be hard on the jaw when the feathers start to fly.

Based on the (not-so) long-running original series and the upcoming video game from Vogster Entertainment, Unbound Saga reintroduces (for the first time) readers to the seedy back alleys of future Toxopolis and the satirical misadventures that follow Rick and Lori like a shadow . . . Rage off the page!''

Gears of War #8...Written by Joshua Ortega; Art by Federico Dallocchio; Cover by Shane Pierce Via publisher WildStorm Productions: A popular element in the Xbox 360 smash Gears of War 2 are the collectibles describing the tragic end of Sgt. Jonathan Harper. A nine-year veteran Gear, he was captured by the Locust during the assault on the Hollow. Eventually managing to escape, he was able to help a family reach the surface before succumbing to his wounds. The full story of this heroic, selfless soldier is finally told!

American McGee's Grimm #3 (of 5)...Written by Dwight MacPherson; Art by Grant Bond Via publisher IDW: Episode 3: Strap on your chaps and ten-gallon hats-Grimm's in the western comic book world! The dead walk the streets of Gravestone as resurrected outlaw Thumbless Jack Hammer squares off against Sheriff Sam Sixshooter in a showdown at high noon. It's a fight the sheriff always wins… but this time Jack's got a Grimm ace up his sleeve!

<![CDATA[Unbound Saga PSP Skips UMD Release]]> Vogster's comic-book inspired brawler for the PlayStation Portable will be following Patapon 2's lead and skipping UMD entirely, releasing directly onto the PlayStation Store this July 16th.

Unbound Saga, announced at the New York City Comic Con earlier this year, is a beat-em up game with comic book flair, and now one of the first third-party PSP titles to skip UMD release entirely. It looks like this is going to be a growing trend. Just ask Mario Kroll, Director of Marketing at Vogster.

"We expect to see a growing trend where highly anticipated releases such as UNBOUND SAGA will bypass the UMD format and the often challenging retail environment, being instead delivered directly to consumers. It certainly is a ‘win' for both content producers and gamers alike —- it avoids an unpopular delivery medium and costly manufacturing, while improving the timing and availability of great content to consumers when they demand it."

Another hint at the release of a new, UMD-less PSP in the near future, or just a matter of convenience?

<![CDATA[Unbound Saga: Drawing Up a Beat-Down]]> Unbound Saga, billed as an arcade-brawler with comic-book art direction, was announced with this trailer at New York Comic-Con. The adaptation of the Dark Horse title is due out for the PSP in June.

An accompanying news release says PSPers can battle it out as Rick Ajax, the series' star, traversing 10 levels of comic book panels slap full of mayhem until finally confronting "The Maker' - aka the omnipotent, disembodied hand and pencil that draws up all the trouble Ajax gets into.

From the trailer, looks like this strikes an interesting tone and it seems well suited for a platform like the PSP, with its blend of interesting visuals and pick-up-and-play action. We'll see how it stacks up come June.
