While this might be true for some, there are plenty of other folks out there who enjoy a decent 3rd party game although admittedly the really good ones are few and far between.

The Video Game Blog has posted an interesting list of the third party Wii games that have sold over a million copies. Some of them are pretty obvious like Resident Evil 4 (1.6 million) and Guitar Hero III (1.8 million) while others were definitely a surprise (at least to me) like Carnival Games (1.2 million) and the top seller of all, Sonic and Mario at the Olympic Games (3.4 million). There are seven games total on the list including three that are getting pretty close to a million like RE: Umbrella Chronicles (900k) and LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga (900k).

While all the games on the list may not be your cup of tea, it certainly is interesting to see what sells on the little white console. You can check out the entire list at That Videogame Blog.

<![CDATA[ Umbrella Chronicles Files Revealed ]]> You know all those files, notes and missives you run across in the Resident Evil games? The ones no one ever reads except for the few obsessives who like me, enjoy reading? Well, a fellow obsessive has managed to document all one hundred and nine files from the upcoming Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles. So if you're interested in the backstory, but don't want to stop your zombie massacre long enough to read them in-game, treat yourself to some weekend reading and check them all out at Resident Evil Horror. While you're there, take some time to click around as RE Horror has managed to put together quite an extensive collection of RE history, time lines and stories. Good weekend reading over coffee.

[Thanks, John]

<![CDATA[ Limited Edition Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles ]]>

Deep inside the Japanese e-Capcom shopping pages is the limited edition version of the Umbrella Chronicles for the Wii. According to the product page, it will available on May 31st of this year and will contain the original game box, an instruction manual, two types of caution tape, and two keys (which I'm not even sure are really keys because of translation issues). Trying to add it to the shopping cart sends you to a page that chastises you for trying to buy an item that isn't available yet. Can't blame a girl for trying, can you?

<![CDATA[ Resident Evil 4 Wii Europe Release Date Confirmed ]]>

It's official, June 29th is the day to go ape cuckoo as Nintendo is set to release Resident Evil 4 in Europe. No official release date is set for Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles, but it's still set to hit the stores by the end of this year.

Unfortunately the US release date is still TBA, but Gamestop is claiming they will be shipping pre-releases June 25th. For anyone who wants to grab the import on release should know that the dollar is at an all time low in fourteen years to the British pound, so importing the PAL version means paying practically double.

<![CDATA[ Clip: Umbrella Chronicles Gameplay Video ]]>

Finally, some gameplay from Umbrella Chronicles. It's great to see the old tried and true mansion making a comeback, although it seems to be much more zombie infested than the last visit. The "light gun" aspect of the game actually intrigues me, although I know some people would rather see it go the way of Duck Hunt. I've always been a fan of rail shooters like House of the Dead and I'm also a terrible aim with a regular controller, so the ability to actually point and aim is much more my speed. Besides, I'm always up for a trip down a zombie infested memory lane.

<![CDATA[ New Umbrella Chronicles Video Available ]]>

Even though the Shaun of the Dead kids are over their killing zombies phase, and Danny Boyle is moving into space in lieu of directing the next 28 Days Later film, there's still the matter of officially completely saturating the zombie market by finally being able to kill them on the Wii. Campcom has a new quick and dirty clip over at their site which you can watch here by clicking on the second button from the left. Blink and you'll miss the whole thing.

<![CDATA[ Biohazard: Umbrella Chronicles Screens ]]>

Jeaux France has posted a ton of screens from the Wii versions of Biohazard: Umbrella Chronicles and Resident Evil 4. if you've already played RE4 on another platform, some of these screens will be old hat for you, but the Umbrella Chronicles screens should provide you with something interesting to pass the time. RE4 was definitely the best title in the series so far and I'm hoping that Umbrella Chronicles will be able to capture that same flavor when it hits the shelves later this year.

I've posted a couple more shots after the jump for your viewing pleasure, but if you want the full experience be sure to check out Jeaux France's monster gallery.

<![CDATA[ Umbrella Chronicles Teaser Vid ]]>
Gaze deeply into the swirling snakey vortex of doom!

Capcom Japan has a teaser trailer posted on their site for The Umbrella Chronicles, featuring several characters both familiar to me and unfamiliar, running through what looks to be a subdued version of House of the Dead. It saddens me that what looks to be a major event in the RE universe - the fall of Umbrella Corp - is going to be covered in a game like this. It's like depicting Solid Snake's death in Metal Gear Solid Pinball Ops.

<![CDATA[ Resident Evil 4 Wii Confirmed, New Umbrella Chronicles Info ]]> resevilscan.jpgThe Gamestop listing spotted last week for Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition turns out to be the real deal, as the latest issue of Famitsu confirms the existence of the Japanese version, Bio Hazard 4: Wii Edition.

Essentially it's the same game as the PlayStation 2 version released two years ago, complete with Ada's special missions, new weapons, etc. What's new is that special Wii flavor, allowing you to aim with the controller or participate in Wiimote knife fights, paving the way for my dream West Side Story game.

No word on a US release yet, but you know they will.

Also featured in the article is new info and screens from Umbrella Chronicles for the Wii, which reunites several series favorites on a mission to shut down Umbrella Corp for good. Looks like a first person rail shooter. I'll wait for RE:5, thanks.
