What is the difference between per-day tracking and per-week tracking? I believe that a 4 week month is always tracked at 28 days (and a 5 week month 35 days, natch).

@anduin1: I bet EA locked up his virtual rights with Fight Night Round 4. And I doubt Nintendo would try to buy him out JUST for Punch-Out regardless of the nostalgia and "OMG" factor.

I think that inFamous did decently for a new ip in its first four days. I hope it has strong legs like many of the other PS3 exclusives.

For reference, according to VGChartz, Uncharted sold only 32,000 in its first week and that went on to sell 2.44 million total.

It even outsold LBP's first week sales which were at 110,000.

Anyway, inFamous is a great game and it deserves to sell well even if I do have to research the entire city because I missed two blast shards. :[

It's actually kind of sad how few copies Punch-Out! sold. I shall no longer listen to the legions of whiny Nintendo 'core' gamers when they say all they want is a great game for them to finally love the Wii.

Punch-Out! was your chance to prove that that was what you actually wanted. You have shown that you didn't want it.

@MrBionic: You know what, I loved Punch Out, I really did, but after playing about halfway through 'Challenger' mode I said to myself 'Self,this is a fun game, but is this a $50 fun game? I mean, fun in the replay-over-and-over a la TF2, Mass Effect, various other games I like?'

When you get right down to it, I'm really not sure it was.

@Evdor: I think my point is more that the bitchers really, truly, don't know what they want. Instead of embracing what is there and taking full advantage of it, or simply moving on to something else that gives them more of what they think they want, they sit and whine and moan that they're never given what they want (which is something they don't really know in the first place), then when something comes along that pretty much fills what is being asked for (A very decent update of a long beloved franchise... and if you think about it, the original Punch-Out was pretty lacking in features and replayability when it comes to modern standards), not enough people get behind it.

Boggles my mind.

@Derek Rumpler: Whatever the mode after Title Defense (The name escapes me, I haven't played it in a week+) is more fun than the Title Defense mode. Title defense was better than the normal career since well, I've played the original like 80+ times as a kid and on the virtual console, but I think that last mode was awesome and even more so because it tested you more. Also SPOILER donkey kong was the shit /end spoiler

@Firemane: Probably not, I have heard through podcasts that the NPD group only gives out the top 10 for free, and for complete breakdowns month to month you would have to subscribe to the service.

I don't think anyone really *should* be surprised that UFC outsold Punch Out. Marketing aside, one is a mixed martial arts (or at least I think it is, god help me if the fans don't jump all over me for that one) game recognized by the majority of male demographics that it's targeting, which countless re-hashed Sports games have taught us is all it really takes, though it might be a decent game DON'T YELL AT ME) the other is a reboot of an old Nintendo game that largely appeals to my generation, but considering how many kids today started on PSX or younger is not terribly surprising. Honestly, while I can kind of understand the surprise at third-party Wii sales leads, on the other hand, I'm really not: The demographic that buys the bulk of Wii titles frankly barely understands the difference between a third-party and a first party title. I ranted and raved at my wife's parents for buying some piece of shovelware for their system (my argument was something to the effect of 'Bloom Blox is an amazing game that's built just for casual types like you, you should really try it') and was succintly told that it didn't 'have darts'. So really, it was only a matter of time 'till something came along to catch people's interest.

I'm sure this is obvious to anyone who's long since realized that the gaming population has expanded past it's little border of folks like you and me, but it will not stop me from waving my cane and screaming at kids (or in-laws) to get the hell off my lawn.

I think it's about time that developers started to help out the consumer by promoting review sites. I have to wonder how that would turn out...

..most likely biased opinions push the envelope towards reviews that promote their developments.

If only Nintendo/Sony/Microsoft can mass-promote all other review sites...

It's not THQ, it's Yukes that sucks.

I don't get it. Yukes makes all the Smackdown games and there are plenty of wrestlers with long hair. And Wrestling is full of headlocks and bulldogs and the like. If long hair works in those games why not this game?

well as someone who knows members of staff who made the game, I would never, ever accuse them of being lazy, they worked their asses off.

why do you think almost all characters have either next to no hair or have it tied / short? if it's one character out of a roster of many, do you think they would redo the the collision system, or spend exorbitant amounts of time rejigging the the engine for one character?
