It's just a shame it had to be cut to squeeze the game online.

<![CDATA[Phoenix Wright Gets UDON Art Book Treatment]]> How big a following does the Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney series have? Large enough to spawn a 240-page art book, due out in October from UDON Entertainment.

The Art of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney collects all of the artwork from the three Nintendo DS Phoenix Wright titles as well as Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney, into one giant coffee-table holding down stack of bound paper. It's perfect for showing your friends and family how much you enjoy the artwork of the Phoenix Wright series, or at least I hope it is, because otherwise what's the point?

I wouldn't have thought the Phoenix Wright series was popular enough to warrant an UDON art book, but after the wild applause the next game in the series got at this year's Comic-Con, it's probably a wise choice.

<![CDATA[Comic-Con 2009: The Damage So Far]]> The main problem with sending fans of things anime, comic book, and video game related to a giant anime, comic book, and video game related convention, is the lack of infinite money at our fingertips.

So far we've been pretty restrained. Yesterday's crowds offered little time to browse the wares at the various booths, and Hasbro cutting off their sales line before we arrived meant there was to be no Soundwave goodness for this Transformers fan, but I did manage to spend roughly $150 within an hour of hitting the show floor.

So far I have two Star Ocean: The Last Hope Play Arts figures and a Dissidia Zidane, due to my great love for Final Fantasy IX. I also swung by the UDON booth to pick up the hardcover version of the Darkstalkers Tribute art book for $80.

My list of wants is still large, however, and it remains to be seen how much I am going to have to borrow from my brother at the end of this month to make rent.

So far McWhertor's damage has been confined solely to his liver.

<![CDATA[The Ultimate Street Fighter Art Collection]]> From the biggest rivalries to the biggest...other rivalries, UDON leaves no facet of Street Fighter history untouched in SF20: The Art of Street Fighter, " the most complete collection of Street Fighter artwork ever."

SF20 features more than 1,500 illustrations from the franchise's 22-year history, from the original Street Fighter arcade game to Tatsunoko VS. Capcom. Featured works include character designs, concept art, sketches, and box art, with "never-before seen" Street Fighter art for those of you who think you've seen it all. More than just an art book, SF20 also provides commentary from popular Capcom artists, discussing their favorite pieces and how their artwork helped forge the most popular fighting game franchise in the world.

SF20: The Art of Street Fighter is scheduled to hit stores in September. Amazon currently lists it with an October date, with a retail price tag of $39.99 discounted to $26.39, so if you're interested, that might be the way to go. I'd say the Mai chesting facing-off against Chun-Li pic alone is worth the price of admission.

<![CDATA[Udon's New Chun-Li Comic Gets Thighs Just Right]]> Udon Entertainment more than makes up for Kristin Kreuk's lack of thigh meat with their newly announced comic book miniseries Street Fighter Legends: Chun-Li.

Kicking off in January, SFL: Chun-Li will explore our favorite female fighter's earliest assignments with the Hong King police department, where she is partnered with a young woman named Po-Lin who has her own reasons for hating Shadaloo. The series will also offer some insight into the life of Chun-Li's father, Dorai, as well as Dan's dad, Go Hibiki. The press release also suggests that some Shadaloo bosses might make an appearance, and judging by the preview page filled with images of M. Bison, they could be right.

Hit the jump for more details, along with a gallery that shows the horrible, horrible things Chun-Li's mighty, meaty thighs do to a police uniform.

UDON ENTERTAINMENT PRESS RELEASE

For Immediate Release

SHE’S THE STRONGEST WOMAN IN THE WORLD... OF COMICS!

Street Fighter® Legends: Chun-Li Spin-off Series Arrives in January

Toronto, ON – Dec 2, 2008 – Having appeared in dozens of video games, and landing her own live action feature film next year, Chun-Li is undeniably among the most recognizable and popular girls of gaming. Beginning in January 2009 UDON will explore the roots of this high-kicking martial artist in Street Fighter® Legends: Chun-Li, a 4-issue miniseries by the Street Fighter Legends: Sakura team of Ken Siu-Chong and Omar Dogan.

The series focuses on a younger Chun-Li and one of her earliest assignments for the Hong Kong police. Along for the ride will be her partner Po-lin, a young woman who has a very personal score to settle with the terrorist Shadaloo organization. Expect this pair of lovely ladies to get into car chases, shoot outs, and plenty of fisticuffs as they fight their way to the truth about Shadaloo’s latest scheme.

But the cast isn’t made up exclusively of sexy female law officers! Fans will also get their first real looks at the lives of rarely-explored characters like Dorai, (Chun-Li’s father and fellow police officer) and Go Hibiki (the surprisingly competent father of everyone’s favorite walking joke, Dan). And, as always when dealing with Shadaloo, some well known boss characters will likely turn up to cause trouble!

Street Fighter Legends Chun #1 goes on sale January 2009, featuring covers by Omar Dogan and Kevin Lau. For more updates stay tuned to capcomcomics.com.

<![CDATA[Udon Street Fighter Comics Coming To DVD]]> Those of you who missed Udon's excellent Street Fighter series in comic book form have another chance to catch the series next February as Eagle One Media and Capcom team up to present a DVD version of the comic in animated form. Street Fighter: Round One - FIGHT!, due out February 9th, just in time for the release of Street Fighter: Legend of Chun-Li on February 27 - not only reprints issues 0-6 of the Udon series, it animates the comic, adding movement, music, special-effects, and even voice overs to the comic book dialog. If you ask me it's a complete and utter bastardization of the comic book as an art form, but that's just the sort of thing you'd expect from a big old comic book geek like myself.

<![CDATA[After 11 Months, My Okami Art Book Arrives]]> In July 2007, fresh from beating the game, I ordered the Japanese-language edition of the Okami art book. Weeks went by. Then months. No art book. I totally forgot about the thing. Then today, June 24, 2008...success! The book finally turns up (albeit the English-language edition). Was it worth the wait? Was it ever. This is a proper art book. Full of concept art, level design sketches, character reference models and even some mangas detailing both the game's boss battles and "god release" cutscenes. Best part? It even gives you soundtrack advice: ie, if you're reading this, play track 7 on disc 3 of the soundtrack.

Get Your Art in New UDON’s New Street Fighter Art Book!

[blog.capcom.com]

I was looking at Capcom's blog and noticed that Capcom and UDON were holding a contest to add fan art to UDON's new Street Fighter art book. I remembered Kotaku showing some interesting in the art books earlier and thought it was pretty nifty.

<![CDATA[Okami Art Book Comes Stateside]]>

Just last month we wrote briefly about the collected art works of Clover Studios' Okami, then lamented that it was a Japanese only release, making an import of the book an expensive ordeal.

Now, thanks to the eagle eyed shoppers at NeoGAF, we know that Capcom and Udon Entertainment will be publishing it stateside, translated into English. From the Amazon product description:
