I was tempted to buy this because it's a LEGO game, but what would have really sold me on it is if they'd at least bundled a LEGO-fied guitar controller with it. #legorockband
Don't all of the Lego games not have online play? It seems like Traveller's Tales refuses to acknowledge that people would want to play their games together online. #legorockband
So here's what I don't get. A lot of people seemingly ate up RB: The Beatles. And yet that had only 45 tracks. Here, having 44 tracks is listed as a con, and a bunch of people are complaining about it in the comments.
Am I missing something? I thought RB: The Beatles was a ripoff for the same reason. #legorockband
@CnEY: Why would it be a ripoff to have 45 Beatles songs? They picked all of the best songs that fit the game well and fit what they were going for with the story mode perfectly. Having 90 songs would've diluted it with stuff that wasn't nearly as good as the rest. #legorockband
@sanman7890: Nope. The transfer requires a one-time use code, which is NOT on the manual - it's on a separate sheet in the case.
Even if the rental place gives you the transfer code sheet in with the game (and they shouldn't have - I know that Blockbuster, at least, shipped the games with directions to destroy those), chances are it's been used by now anyway. #legorockband
@Benguin:
The two basic options there are the Rebel Mechanic/Engineer torso (has some sort of vertical bars over the belly) and the Cloud City Luke shirt (no vertical bars). The latter both looks more accurate and is considerably cheaper on Bricklink due to having been reused on at least half a dozen City minifigs (including the Boy Scout from Cafe Corner). #legorockband
@Benguin:
There are only two dark-green minifigs right now. One is Ryo from Exo-Force, and the other is Professor Lupin from Harry Potter. The Halo armor fully covers the torso, so it will hide the painted design, but if you prefer to have a completely paint-free torso you can always scrub it clean with an abrassive metal polish like Brasso. It takes some serious elbow grease (it does not dissolve the paint), but the surface will actually be left more glossy than a brand-new LEGO brick.
Note, however, that there are _no_ dark-green hands. Not sure if you'd need them or not, but... #legorockband
@Purple Dave: I wish I had checked BrickForge again after placing my order before. Literally the day after I did they released Plasma Swords for the Space Marine line.
... sigh. Time to load up the cart again. Darn $10 minimum. #legorockband
@Benguin:
I just found out the other day that they came out with two new colors for the scooters. And golf clubs (somewhere I have an astronaut minifig that's been waiting for that...).
What I really need now is a source for minifig stands that are made in either clear or dark-bley plastic. I need to be able to get minifigs to stand on the club road plates during shows without having them all fall down whenever someone bumps the layout. #legorockband
@Purple Dave: Dunno if you got my message, but I grabbed an extra proton pack set and figured I'd try to make the Ghostbusters 2 suit. ([img114.imageshack.us]). Any tips as far as gray pieces go? #legorockband
If the first one came with a black belt, and in dark-bley, it'd be perfect. The other two have pockets that shouldn't be there. Personally, I'd go with the second one, because the belt buckle doesn't make him look like he just won a rodeo.
@Purple Dave: Ah yeah, I was doing some digging around yesterday and saw that Rebel Technician. I was either going to go with that or one of the Imperial Officer designs. Probably the Grand Moff one.
I just found it recently, but I have to say I love BrickLink.
@(zombie) buddhathing:
And who is your favorite band? Not that Counting Crows is my favorite band, but everyone is entitled to their own opinions about music. #legorockband
@(Human) Gyaruson: Just a good natured ribbing, I actually agree with you. Personally, I find that I don't really have a favorite band/movie/book, other than for a limited period of time. I like the Counting Crows, and almost ended with /kidding, but I wasn't kidding about the $10. #legorockband
"Accidentally in Love" is generic to the point where they probably wrote the song for Shrek before they picked the band, but "August and Everything After" and "Recovering The Satellites" are both good albums. #legorockband
@(zombie) buddhathing: The $10 is acceptable since the game doesn't cost $59.99, I feel. It gives the option to those that want it, makes those that don't not have to pay the difference. #legorockband
@spiderweb1986: Actually they picked the band and the tempo. Counting Crows wrote the song knowing what the tempo needed to be. I believe the lead singer was surprised to hear they wanted a happy song from him. I think he said something along the lines of "Do you know what kind of songs I write?" But he was falling in love at the time and wrote a very basic song about it which happened to work very well with the movie. #legorockband
@d1nonlyclo: In my defense, the only reason SNL was on my mind was because I sat through it Sunday with my daughter who loooooves Taylor Swift. We also watched the Crossroads episode with Swift and Def Leppard playing each others' songs. I drew the line at the CMA's.
I'll just be over here listening to Fuck Buttons on my headphones to overcompensate. #legorockband
I'm probably just being old dude but I can't remember enjoying SNL's Weekend Update since Colin Quinn and maybe a bit with Tina Fey (Fallon and his inability to keep a straight face during a skit/segment was annoying). #legorockband
@d1nonlyclo: I really have found SNL to be a joyless experience for a long time. The last time Weekend Update was enjoyable for me was when Dennis Miller was at the desk. And overall, the show hasn't been good since the Phil Hartman days, except for the pre-recorded bits. #legorockband
One of the features I liked in LEGO Rock Band was that, since the notes are lego bricks, the hammer-on notes could look really unique by having only one lego stud thing on top, so they're really easy to see.
I'm not a huge plastic guitar player (I'm always the drummer in sessions with friends), but this feature stood out to me immediately and I love it. #legorockband
For those who are interested in something a bit more particular, it should be noted that the Endless Setlist is thankfully only 30 songs long and it's actually completely random so it'll pull from DLC as well, which is very nice. And there's no retarded Bladder of Steel achievement (which I have anyway but it's still dumb) and you basically can't fail just because of how the game works.
It's a fantastic group of songs for parties though. #legorockband
@Ueziel: Yeah, only problem is I have a lot of unplayable shit in my DLC that I'm afraid to chance while playing Expert drums or Expert guitar.
What? Don't look at me like that.
Though also the whole failure to recovery thing they do with the studs over notes is REALLY awesome. It's a brilliant way to keep the game going without breaking the mechanics.
... wait a minute, weren't you starred, Ueziel? #legorockband

No, but Brickforge sells custom LEGO-style proton packs and guns, so you can at least make custom Ghostbusters minifigs:
