My plan is to get up in the morning and hit Toys R Us to pick up Uncharted 2 for PS3, Brutal Legend on 360... then I'm hung up on my third game. I'll have to see what they have. Maybe ODST. Maybe a pre order game if any are availabe that appeal to me for this deal. Either way, I hope they get their Uncharted 2 and Brutal Legend up and out in good time tomorrow.
@Jayzilla: Make sure that Uncharted 2 or Brutal Legend get rung up as your free game. If the random 3rd game gets rung up as the free game, you won't be able to exchange it for anything.
@mabadaba: As mambadaba said I'm planning on bringing them back to wal-mart or gamestop as a swap but I will make sure that it was a paid for one just incase.
This is what I did. I bought 2 copies of Uncharted 2 and added MAG as the free game. Selling one Uncharted 2 to a buddy for $60 and the deal became a BOGO.
I would do it if they let you mix and match accessories with games. I want a controller and a game but I'd have to get two controllers or two games just to get anything free.
Just bought both Professor Layton games and FFIV from the online store. :D
Paying for shipping AND taxes was pretty lame, but it still ended up being cheaper for me since it would cost me about $15 of gas to get to the closest TRU anyway.
Guys, the deal is now available in the online store.
Some select games like Uncharted 2 and BL dont seem to have the BUY 2 GET 1 FREE tagline. I realize that it comes out on Tuesday, and it might have the tagline then, BUT if you look at MAG which comes out 1/26, it is a part of the deal.
But a game that comes out the 14th is what I really want, what about that?
Any game that comes out during the week of the sale will be part of the sale. For games that come out after the sale, see the Placeholder section of the FAQ.
For the first time, I might actually get my ass into toys r us and take advantage of this.
I usually ignore it since around here there are a lot of stores that sell cheap classic gaming stuff along with new releases, so it always feels like a deal.
Until you find fight club special edition for 30$ and you KNOW you can get it cheaper online but you buy it anyway because it's a fucking awesome movie. Then you get home and realize you didn't even get a new copy of bioshock which was the WHOLE REASON you went out in the first place.
You could download it off of XBL, thats what they put the games on demand up for, but it's more expensive on XBL and you think "Fuckin' Microsoft is always trying to rip me off." So you don't buy it and commend yourself for 'sticking it to the man.'
But it covers their entire game catalog - consoles, handhelds, everything.
Where are you getting this information from? It sure isn't in the CAG thread, and whenever Toys R Us has run this sale in the past, consoles and handhelds have never been included.
@spiderweb1986: I'm pretty sure he's saying, "Console games, portable games, everything," since he goes on to talk about how many games are theoretically available.
Why would I buy expensive games at Toys R Us for regular price. When Amazon has LBP for $31.99 and the original Uncharted for $19.99. Two games I'm buying.
@Orionsaint: You know, I've been looking at getting a good deal on LBP and the version that's $30 is the non-GOTY version that lacks tons of DLC, some of it quite substantial. The GOTY version used is $45 which runs to about $50 after shipping.
I just tried the sale on-line with MS Points. It does work, but shipping on three cards is just under $9 alone, and Toys R Us charges tax as well. I'd basically save just $6 if I ordered on-line at a cost of $53.36. Probably best to hit the stores to take advantage of this since shipping fees ruin the value.
@Kobun: Good luck- I checked online and saw that the MS Points cards were included and stopped by my local store tonight. The cards didn't ring up as on sale, which meant getting a manager who left me standing around for fifteen minutes while she "went and checked" to see if they were on sale- this after I pulled up the Toys 'R' Us page on my iPhone and showed her right where it specifically said the cards were included in the promotion. The manager finally comes back, says, "Oh, that price is online only!" and scuttles off again.
I called and complained to the Toys 'R' Us customer service number and got the same blather- the guy admitted that the in-store circular included all accessories in the promotion and that the cards were indeed listed as accessories on the website, then blathered something about how the accessory promotion was still "online only," and that the signs were only up in the store "because some people don't have internet, and they might want us to order it online for them from our computers." Yeah, buddy. I'm sure.
Good reminder of why I haven't set foot in a Toys 'R' Us in years, though!
@FaustianSlip: Yeah, this Toys R Us sale isn't too amazing, at least on-line where the variety is once you factor in the ridiculous shipping costs and tax. Picking up three $30 titles and a $15 on to use a $10 coupon resulted in about an $85 bill, and unfortunately I can get that on eBay and elsewhere on the Internet. It's good for those who buy new releases, but there's not much here for bargain hunting.
@(Starman) AnalysisDialysis: Last time I got Popeyes my chicken was undercooked and I got food poisoning from the little I ate before I realized it.
Not saying Popeyes will kill you, but it may make you vomit and shit at the same time for a couple days. Figuring out how to successfully do that without making a mess makes you feel pretty smart at the time.
It is tasty, but that is the only Popeyes around me for about 70 miles, so until I move somewhere else or they put another location in I am going without. Can't bring myself to go back there again.

Did that with a free copy of X-Blades I got from Best Buy for being a Reward Zone member, and got a $43 gift-card out of it.

I hope it's just a fluke.

Bayonetta and Bioshock 2 are also included in the deal.

If you get really lucky and get a stupid employee, maybe. Chances are you'll just get shot down and waste your time, though.
