boycott the event ! 9v9, no dedicated servers, and i heard in an iterview someone from IW saying that "it was not just a copy paste from the console version and it supported mouse, in game text chat and video settings changes" are we fucking serious here ? it should be the exactly opposite oO i mean PC games get adapted to consoles and not the opposite...
@D4nte: You know what’s more embarrassing than IW’s treatment of PC Gamers? PC Gamers treatment of IW. In the chat you are referring to IW say "No, PC has custom stuff like mouse control, text chat in game, and graphics settings." LIKE, not limited to.
Other bits you seemed to miss :
"We understand your concern for the PC version as it is a very important topic. We keep our loyalties to making good games. Fun games that people can play worldwide and on multiple platforms. We feel that most or all of your questions will be answered on November 10."
And they didn’t rule out the possibility of patching in dedicated server support later saying "We can't predict the future... yet."
Of course, actually reading the chat log for yourself would get in the way of all that posting to the internets about how terrible the game is going to be. #callofdutymodernwarfare2
@MajorNewbie: You know what else they said in chat?
"LaGgY_42o: What kinds of pings did you get during your IWNet testing and what do you say is an acceptable ping?
Mackey-IW: I've been playing mainly with around 100ms ping and it was great."
100ms is great?
And that "No, PC has custom stuff like mouse control, text chat in game, and graphics settings." qoute? it's like they are so proud that their game is controlled by standard PC input, and omg!, it has text chat, the greatest innovation ever and ..graphics settings...oooh, shiny.
Reading that whole chat shows that IW seem to think that the PC player base is made of idiots, they purposely dodged any serious questions and tried to tell us how wodnerful stuff would be, like that 100-ms example they gave.
IW are shitting on the platform that gave birth to them. #callofdutymodernwarfare2
@deanbmmv: I guess it depends how you read it, Mackey's comment in context of the other comments about always playing players in England to *me*, says that even with a bad 100ms ping, the game was still playing great for him. Not that he was happy to have 'only' a 100ms ping.
For the PC stuff, again it is all how you interpret the answer, is it a DIRECT port was the question and they're saying no, they've had to do work on it. The question wasn't 'omg what awesome features are you treating PC owners with', so I think treating the answer as such is unfair.
At the end of the day, the zealot PC hardcore who feel betrayed by IW are going to pounce on any answer as evidence for their (as yet) unjustified fears.
Personally, I'm willing, given IWs past at delivering the goods, to give them my trust and just see what they deliver come next week.
This sense of entitlement coming from other PC gamers regarding what IW should deliver to them in their game fills me with shame. #callofdutymodernwarfare2
@MajorNewbie: Of course its not a direct port. It will need some work to remove the 360 logo that pops up at the begging. Mouse control and the like are standard PC features, not really "custom stuff"
He said "it was great." Why would he say that if he was not that happy?
And they are perfectly justified, they have come out n said they game will only support upto 9vs9, they have said its got 'great' ping of 100ms, its P2P matchmaking, its $10 more than normal, they have complelty blocked their ears to the PC community, and then bragged who they listened to their 60K twitter followers, what part of any of their complaints unjustified?
You know what fills me with shame? when console gamers tell PC users to put up n shut up when they complain that features that have been standard for over a decade are removed. Well when MW3 comes in 480p, with no Voice Chat at all n costs $80 don't come crying to PC users.
@deanbmmv: My god, that last paragraph comes off as so petty and childish.
At any rate, I agree that there should be some annoyance over the MW2 gimping. But I think that at times it goes too far, particularly when they start moving past the things wrong with the game and start openly advocating piracy and theft, and (as is the case here) shift the blame towards console gamers rather than Inifinity Ward or (who I think deserves even more blame, since all of this is probably an edict from them) Activision. #callofdutymodernwarfare2
"(as is the case here)" - you implying that I'm blaming console gamers?
if so, well, possibly re-read my post. or read my TAY rant today. #callofdutymodernwarfare2
@deanbmmv: Again, he didn't say the ping was great, but that with a 100ms ping, the game played great. You're using reductio ad absurdum logic to make false claims to shore up the shody premise IW somehow don't care about their jobs and delight in shifting crappy product (because you know, that's why CoD4 didn't sell..)
And to further shoot your argument down my copy of MW came from Steam, but you go right ahead and claim you speak for all PC gamers. #callofdutymodernwarfare2
@MajorNewbie: "I've been playing mainly with around 100ms ping and it was great." I'm not making any false claims, that's what he said.
COD4 wasn't a crappy product. They've stripped out a fair amount of features n slapped an extra $10 on top.
I also never claimed to speak for all PC gamers. And why does you buying it on Steam shoot down my argument? And what part of the argument does it shoot down, im confused on that one. #callofdutymodernwarfare2
@deanbmmv: But you're twisting the meaning. The 'it' he is refering to is the multiplayer game, not the ping. As said, he stated he ended up playing players in England most of the time, so he's commenting that despite that the multiplayer still plays well. The original context is the exact opposite of the point you're trying to suggest it makes.
Claimed? no but your complaint of console users telling PC to put up and shut up certainly makes a broad enough implication of the fact. PC gamer here and I think you're being reactionary, deliberately inciteful and choosing to ignore IW's (so far) fantastic track record with the series.
If they think 9v9 non-dedicated multiplayer is what works best for the game, I see no harm in giving them a shot. If they jump the shark, well then EA and DICE are going to smile from ear to ear. #callofdutymodernwarfare2
@MajorNewbie: " I play with on 360 is some guy in England"
Yet his 100ms ping was reference to IWnet, on PC.
So I'm not taking it out of context, you are.
Hey good track records can end. Just because their last game was good doesn't automatically give their next game a get out of jail free card. Especially when their next game doesn't continue MW1's excellent track record. well okay it does, it builds up on MW1's excellent console track record.
I'm sure there are many many PC users who would like to give it a shot. but you forget, no demo. So its either go with the fairly positive assumption that the game is not worth the raised price tag, IWnet will be crap, and the game will be too short to be worth the cash just to play singlepalyer.
Or we take a $60 chance that its good, but if its bad, well IW already have your cash so what you gonna do about it?
PC pre-orders are already speaking. It's been outsold by Mass Effect for god sake, and Torchlight, and due to the way Steam sort their sales that means that ME is selling four times as much n Torchlight twice as much. #callofdutymodernwarfare2
@deanbmmv: Yeah but that's hardly an issue specific to MW2 and one you deal with any time you buy a game, especially on PC where the wrong piece of hardware can render a game unplayable (which is why I didn't add to those spectacular ME sales... *grumble*).
Sure the higher price point is a worrying sign, but even at price that is still offering about 2-4x the value of DVDs before we even get into the many, many hours of multiplayer on offer. #callofdutymodernwarfare2
@MajorNewbie: 2-4 times the value of a DVD?
COD4 same value, lower price.
It's nice to know you defend being ripped off.
And everyone knows that you don't need to take chance with having incompatible hardware. If the publisher offers no demo, the scene will. #callofdutymodernwarfare2
@deanbmmv: "If the publisher offers no demo, the scene will."
Words fail me. With stalwarts like you standing up as the vocal representation of hardcore PC gaming, it is no wonder it continues its steady march to oblivion. #callofdutymodernwarfare2
Hey words fail me too.
With people like you who bend over at a publishers will, it is no wonder it continues its steady march to oblivion.
(which its interesting you bring up Oblivion, pretty good PC game, mod support, great expansion, PC price) #callofdutymodernwarfare2
@deanbmmv: Totally, I mean that's exactly what's killing the platform, right? Too many people pushing record sales on publishers because they swallow up everything they throw at them.
I'm sure making unreasonable demands of developers with proven track records the instant they implement features you don't like and defending piracy because there's no guarantee of value is going turn things around for the platform. Keep on fighting the good fight #callofdutymodernwarfare2
@MajorNewbie: Using record sales on console as an excuse to not bother properly making a PC version. The screenshots are trickling out, the games a damn port from the console.
It's not really unreasonable demands just to have dedicated servers. They had them in COD4, so it's not like we are asking for them to bend over backwards. Heck, they already have a MW2 demo too, so asking for them to let folks have a play with it isn't asking too much either.
But look, you've bought the game, you're not really gonna change your mind. Have fun with it.
I'll just stick to DA:O, a game that's had a bit of effort put in the PC release. #callofdutymodernwarfare2
DJ Smash bros.? Interesting name, though I'm sure more people are going to shffl into the store on Monday night to get MW2 than to see some DJs. #callofdutymodernwarfare2
