And his friends! And their new official line of action figures/desk paperweights. You may be ordering yours (as we speak!) as a devoted fan of all things PlayStation, but since the figures come with interchangeable faces, I'm ordering mine as a handy mood indicator. If Toro's happy, I'm happy. If he's sad, I'm sad. If he's that face on the far right, I'm...having toilet issues?

<![CDATA[Sony Cat Papercraft]]> Bored and want to do something with scissors besides just running around your cubicle with them? Then some Toro papercraft just might be up your alley, especially if you have been admiring the figurines from earlier today. The Sony mascot is all ready to be cut up and folded so it can start living a happy new life on your desk, dashboard, or even bedside table.

The full version of the template is right here. All you need is a little glue to attach the legs, and voila, you have a little kitty that doesn't shed or ignore you (depending on which way you point him).

<![CDATA[Mainichi Issyo Gets A Little More PSP Play]]>
In Japan, a download of Mainichi Issyo on the PS3 means not only the ability to watch news broadcasts with Toro and his pals, but also a little remote PSP play. Sure, it's only for the Japanese, and the "playing" only really involves being able to pamper Toro with food, but it's something. After last week's update for the PSP (which really only allows you to access the content downloaded on or streamed through your PS3), it's a hopeful sign that Playstation is starting to use the technology to, oh I don't know, actually play a game with.

And yes, I used the word "play" in relationship to the Mainichi Issyo download because really, all the playing you can do with a cat is offer it food. Unless you can download a moth for it to catch, but I'm sure Sony's already on it.

<![CDATA[Sony Cat Gets Shirts]]>

For the ladies. Or the children. Starting late June, PlayStation.com will begin selling these Toro (AKA the Sony Cat) shirts to Japanese women and children. Sizes run M and L in kid's and lady's, and the shirts cost ¥3,150 (US $26). Not too expensive, not too memorable either.

<![CDATA[Sony Cat Has Birthday, Gets Cake]]>

Toro (AKA the Sony Cat) celebrated his birthday over the rainy weekend. Star of Doko Demo Issho, the character was given flowers and posed for photo ops with fans. There was even a birthday cake! But, is this really a birthday cake or actually a game cake? Puzzled.

<![CDATA[The Sony Cat's PS3 Blog "Game"]]>

Sony cat Toro (not Kotaku commenter, Toro-kun) has a download on the PlayStation Network. It's not really a game per se, but more of a talk show in the form of two cats in a tiny apartment.

Called Mainichi Issho ("Everyday Together"), players click through dialogues between Toro (the white cat) and Kuro (the black cat). There are blog-type newscasts delivered three times a day, which are actually well-written. Sony has hired a troupe of Japanese women to churn out content everyday. Above, the cats make jokes about when the PlayStation 10, PS100, PS10000 will come out before smacking each other. The cats ask you questions, and that data then comes into play in future episodes.

There are trivia games in which you can win prizes, such as furniture for the apartment. Plus, sports news, weather info as well as info about new downloads, etc. It's cute and actually somewhat fun—though clicking through the kitty-talk dialogue is way slower than scrolling through a page of text. My kid was completely hypnotized by the two felines, though. Me? Don't think I could spend everyday together with Toro and Kuro. More like once a week. Still, good effort on Sony's part to mix up and personalize the way we get information.

<![CDATA[A Missed Birthday Opportunity with Sony Cat Cake]]>

Late last week, old man Crecente had his birthday (he turned 58). If he had given me, Mike, Eliza or Florian a heads up, we could've pooled our moolah together and bought him something. Instead, we just made fun of him. Mercilessly.

A nice present could've been these cheese and chocolate cakes, featuring the white Sony cat Toro from Together, Everywhere. A special Toro event's being held at Odaiba in the Fuji Television building. A man-in-Toro-suit poses for pics with fans, and there's a special souvenir shop called "Travel with Toro." The shop is packed with Toro goodies like sweets, stuffed animals and cell phone straps. Those could've been yours Crecente!
