    It's amusing in an ironic sort of way. Game developers were trying to avoid a ridiculous influx of games that would place a shadow on their own, so they ALL proceeded to move to the same time frame....and shifted the ridiculous influx of games that would place a shadow on their own to early next year. #original

    When I went to the midnight launch for Modern Warfare 2, I was shocked at the people that were there. It was not just video game nerds. It was a large (I live in small humble Tallahassee) and diverse crowd.

    While us commenters on Kotaku will know about Bad Company 2 and will see the differences and even see them as advantages over Modern Warfare 2, BC2 does not have anywhere near the know-how of Modern Warfare. I am very confident that the majority of the people at that midnight release had then, and still have, no idea what Battlefield even is about. It doesn't have a previous blockbuster of a game (on the level of MW1) to build marketing off of. It's coming out after MW2 which immediately gives it the sense of being a copycat game, regardless of when production began on either game.

    I can't see Battlefield doing anywhere near as well as MW2. We, with the knowledge of the game, may see it as a shame and a travesty, but it just isn't to be. #battlefieldbadcompany2

    The more I read about Bad Company 2 the more I fear for it!

    This article makes it sound like they're changing the single-player...
    All the trailers I've seen have shown online gameplay only...

    I never was into the old Battlefield games. I got into Bad Company because after playing the demo I wanted to see more of the story.

    The game is only months away from release and I still have no idea if Haggard and Sweetwater will be back.. :(

    All the features in the world mean nothing to me.

    Just be sure, DICE, to bring back the funny.

    I had more fun with BC's campy homage to Kelly's Heroes ( [www.imdb.com] ) than any thought provoking narrative in a shooter.

    This game needs more Haggert. #battlefieldbadcompany2

    the original BC felt a bit... I don't know, almost budgety, for me. maybe something to do with a few old-school textures here and there, some questionable voice-over work and only mildly amusing humour... To be honest I can't put my finger on it, but there was something about the game that didn't seem top tier. It may have just been the EA logo thinking about it.

    The game was a lot of fun though, and if I pick up either MW2 or BC2, bad company is getting my cash. I did like the original modern warfare, but don't feel right giving cash to Activision for anything any more. I might buy it second hand. #battlefieldbadcompany2

    I hadn't paid much attention to BC2, and the presence or lack of dedicated PC servers isn't an issue for me. But seeing as MW2's tightly controlled narrative is my only beef with that game, BC2's promised sandbox appeals to me a lot. The graphics (at least for the character in the above screenshot) not so much, but it doesn't look horrible so I'm adding it to my get list. #battlefieldbadcompany2

    @Communist Pope: The game looks great... don't sell it short.

    The sound design is also spectacular.

    If CoD were to ever steal anything from another property, it should be the fuzz out/ringing ears that you get whenever explosives go off near you.

    Also, considering the sheer size of the maps and the draw distance, the overall look is pretty fantastic. #battlefieldbadcompany2

    Well, Dice did nail modern combat in Battlefield 2 and while it won't outsell MW2 if they don't rush BC2 and are really touting dedicated servers and mods and such I can see BC2 having longer legs than MW2 on Steam and Direct2Drive type services. #battlefieldbadcompany2

    Hmmm... two games to get in Jan (NMH2,ME2 and consider DV) while nothing in in Feb- System Shock 2 feels like some kind of cheap expansion pack to me, I'm fascinated by Conviction, but not sure if it's beyond a rental and Lost Planet 2 gets rid of single player.
    Then there's Final Fantasy XIII - unless there's some good sales, I'll just get it when I can actually find the time. Square can live without one RPGer buying their latest and greatest for their backlog.

    For a while I thought this was going to be much, much worse.

    Now that I'm out on my own, again, I'll actually be saving up money this month and next month. So, it's kinda nice to see more AAA game released in Q1 instead of me having to fight through hoards of people during BF and Xmas shopping in Q4.

    @fauxbravo: Oh, agreed, but I mean, that top picture is one of the most awkward, misplaced cover images I've seen. With sports titles, you need the action shot. The game isn't about the player; it's about the sport. #mlb2k10

    It would have been cool to see Zach Greinke on the cover. I'm not even a Royals fan, I just think he's an amazingly under-appreciated player because of his market. #mlb2k10

    I'm wondering if people who take these marketing surveys even worry about legal action that might be taken against them if they leak this kind of stuff.

    I've taken some game related marketing surveys and I've seen a glimpse or two of future titles in some franchises but I worry about legal action :)
