surfing needs to go the EA SKATE route and provide more realism over aerials. I'll go a step further and say it needs a little GTA too; in the form of driving from beach to beach. Hire the WaveRace 64 team to do the water.
@rainofwalrus: Well said, I totally agree. I'm not a surfer, but I work in both the surfing and gaming industries and a decent surfing game has yet to happen. WaveRace 64 remains the gold standard.
I never got around the playing the original, but having been a big Tony Hawk Pro Skater fan before the franchise ate itself, I was fascinated how the gameplay even functioned in the game. It actually sounds like it could be pretty innovative.
Especially if they capture some degree of the aesthetics of the experience of surfing. Maybe even a first person mode. *thinks about it* No, we tried that, sorry Mirror's Edge.
im as much a skate fan as you. been skating for 7 years. and frankly EA Skate for me personally, is where its at. im just calling for Tony to get his shit together and make a real SB game and not this abomination of a gimmick.
@zåɳzißårléɠёпȡ: That would be nice. I liked THPS-THUG. But after that the stories sucked and nothig was good about any of the games, to keep me playing long enough. (besides THAW, with my obssesion with achievements when I first got my 360.)It would be nice to see a THPS 5 that returns to the stlye of THPS4. Or even better a Tony Hawk Pro Skater Colection. Consisting of all the levels of THPS1-4, along with all the unlockable characters from them as well. Which maybe hard to do, as they had Spider-man, Wolverine, Darth Maul, Jango Fett (plus a bnch more i dont remember) Those were my favorite characters. I remember setting Darth Maul grinding in a circle, then leavinhg and coming back with him still going.
Oh how could I have forgoten about KENNY THE QUALA. He was my all time favorite character, but too bad you only got the head and not the full costume.

So, "review events" for Tony Hawk Ride are a big no no, but when Halo, Call of Duty or other big games do them everybody attends and NOBODY complains...
Sure those events are longer and you get to play the game to the end, and try out the multiplayer extensively - but nobody can tell me those are ideal circumstances for a review. #theysaiditonapodcast
@El-Suave:
Either your post is too sarcastic to be recognised as sarcasm on the internet or you're seriously equating what this was, a chance to play Ride for a couple of hours (highly unlikely)/playing it for twenty minutes to being allowed a full playthrough of the game and test the multiplay fully?
Whether those events are "ideal" review conditions or not they're still perfectly adequate.
Don't worry if you miss Skate Hero's limited run in stores...they'll have a brand new updated board peripheral ready in time for Snow board Hero when it releases this February.
I hope for the love of God. That if they ever make a next gen SSX. They don't make it a mandatory motion board game. I will create a petition that will shake the foundations of EA Canada!!! #robomodo

WR64 really made you *feel* like you were out there in it.
as opposed to ALL surfing games that only *looked* like you were out there in it.

And it was fun for some reason. But I never got anywhere in it.

I am paraphrasing, but I think it went something like this:
For Sale: Tony Hawk's Ride, never used.
