Ive been tempted to get Folklore ever since it was released but I keep hearing bad stuff about it, and I wasn't that enthralled by the demo (though I wanted to be)...
Now that I can pick the game up for under a tenner I'll likely grab it in the next few weeks... The positive comments on Kotaku have convinced me :P
@exion: There is only one truly bad thing about the game... The camera. There are annoying things (lack of voice acting, comic book cut scenes) but just think of it as playing a game on the PS1, when no one cared that you had to read in RPGs, and you'll be fine.
@bobtheduck: I'm sure I'll get over it... I mean heck, at least I won't be able to complain about dodgy voice acting like I do with 90% of RPGs nowadays...
@Placentasaurus: Yes you do... And in advance I apologise for the camera... Being a game I hoped would attract more RPG devs to the PS3, I feel somehow responsible for the camera in this game... Like I feel responsible for lair and the GNP of France.
Folksoul is one of my favorite PS3 games so far and I have a really hard time understanding why alot of people seem to hate on it. It must be because Genji wasn't all that great that they say the same about Folksoul however that's BS and you need to play the game and not just randomly judge it.
@Reibooi: Not many hate on Folklore / Folkssoul... Just not many know about it... That, and it has a terrible camera... That's one thing Game Republic should outsource in their games.
@MentalNote: Sort of like Final Fantasy 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 Vs Infinite Undiscover and Last Remnant... FFXII was the sign of things to come. Maybe Folklore is like the reverse of that! Swimming UNDER the shark?
@Intellectualdiot: Try out the Master System Tom & Jerry game. It's AMAZING. It's got a Prince of Persia classic gameplay, combined with chase elements as you're pursuing Jerry. Great levels and environments, as well as colorful scenery and detailed stuff for an 8-bit game.
@animexplorer: I agree, except for the absoltely hideous camera... The stupid camera was the single greatest cause of death for me when fighting folklore.
@ShadowOdin: 2008 is the year of the great games that didnt sell well. mirror's edge, LBP, valkyria chronicles, possibly resistance 2, (unless it did sell well.) i cant think of any more, but there definitely were some more.
@Jandlecack: I hope we get the expansion as well. But it looks like Game Republic is just shelving a lot of their projects, which would indicate being close to bankruptcy.
@Jandlecack: it's 'dammit' damn it! definitely not 'damnit'. even kotaku spellchecker says so. :)
folklore is a fantastic game. at least it had a nice chunk of dlc to come along with it! and a fan made folk! i think the game was sadly before its time.

For what it's worth, I'd be highly skeptical of watching any film based on the property either. It's best years are long behind it, it seems.

Maybe my memory is hazy, but I recall that Super NES Tom & Jerry game being alright.

Here's a gameplay video if you're curious.
I have no idea what the general opinion of this game is, but I loved it.

Folklore was wicked.

By the way, Dark Mist is probably worth the small sum it costs, however it's TERRIBLY HARD! :(
