I'd really like to see them put the voice control in Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon to replace the d-pad squad controls. Seems like a pretty logical use for it, given as there's a limited number of actions available to your squad anyway. I think I would quite enjoy hollering "stack up" and "go go go", and it would be nice to call for an airstrike, instead of press.
While decent as a rental, I'm glad I didn't buy it.
I'm more then intrested in a EndWar 2 however, now that they have made a game to test everything works.
Or someday in the future, a MMO for Clancy Games. Involving Air battles with HAWX, ground FPS and RTS (like that of Savage only more widespread), and raiding like that of Ghost Retcon.
You know what? As my avatar probably suggests, I adore RTS games. And if there's one thing EndWar has proven to me: it's that RTS is possible on a console. Yes, it's a hell of alot simpler than games like C&C3 and Supreme Commander. But man is it awesome, nonetheless. Also, for some reason it reminds me of C&C: Generals meets Battlefield 1942.
If I wasn't so poor I'd buy it. But Fallout 3 and LBP ate up my entire game budget for the rest of the season.
@Gantz: Your Trusted Friend in Science.: Hmmmmm, I just heard a noise out in that COMPLETELY DARK hallway. I better go check it out by walking a back and forth pattern.
@href="#c8922287">TSlade: I was sort of expecting a Sam Fisher unit, a la Tanya in Red Alert. Would have been cool, a stealth unit in a RTS. Has that ever been done?
My only issues are the questionable "Fog of War" they use. Your line of sight isn't very clearly stated and the instant a target moves out of sight of your units its invisible.
Moving units is a pain in the ass when you want them to go anywhere other than a command point or attack an enemy unit. Especially when you want your units to occupy a building or take cover as there is no way to command them to do so via voice command.
Getting a good view of the battlefield can be difficult unless you choose to use SITREP, which really should be available regardless of weather you have a command vehicle or not.
Overall its a pretty awesome game with some odd issues here and there. I'm pretty impressed and doing my best to improve my skill.
@Gantz: Your Trusted Friend in Science.: Your comment about moving units..I use Sitrep to move them anywhere else other than a node or attacking. It works perfectly.
@Eville1 says SKUse me a sec.: Ya SITREP fixes alot of things but it brings up the question of why. Especially when they say its entirely controlled by voice commands.
I dunno, I am really into the game. There's more strategy than you seem to post about here. Baiting units into range of your artillery, perma killing an already down opponent (an asshole move online, but fun anyway.) There's a lot going on. Sure, it is bland but that's the great thing about modern consoles..DLC and updates. I wouldn't be surprised to see more commands and units coming down the pike. And no mention of the multiplayer persistent mode? :p
@Eville1 says SKUse me a sec.: I'm with you. I find that the lack of intense depth in units and whatnot actually lends to more strategy. You can't rush, you can't spam any one unit or couple units, you'll just die. You have to play cat and mouse, lure people, outmanuever them, and crush them. It's great fun.
And yeah, the persistent multiplayer is amazing. Imagine being one army on one side of a massive game of Risk, and every day is just one turn. It's fantastic. Give your lives for the Motherland!
