While I'm intrigued by some of them, like the Godfather game, the new Prince of Persia and SSX Blur, others seem like filler. I mean Disney's Meet the Robinsons and Bionicle Heroes?

Here's the full list:

Feb. 14 Wii Play with Wii Remote Nintendo
March 27 Disney's Meet the Robinsons Buena Vista
March Bust-A-Move Bash Majesco
March Prince of Persia Rival Swords Ubisoft
March TMNT (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) Ubisoft
March Bionicle Heroes Eidos
March Blazing Angels Squadrons of WWII Ubisoft
Q1 Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 EA
Q1 SSX Blur EA
Q1 The Godfather Blackhand Edition EA
Q1 Medal of Honor Vanguard EA
Q1 Sonic and the Secret Rings Sega

Nintendo also revealed that Mario Kart 64 will be coming to the VC next week. Yes, super hotness. Hit the jump for the full press release.

Wii Lineup for First Quarter 2007 Expands Nintendo's Global Phenomenon

Fans Will Find Dozens of New and Classic Games Everyone Can Play

REDMOND, Wash., Jan. 23 /PRNewswire/ — After watching everyone from
gamers to grandmas fall under the spell of ground-breaking Wii(TM) games
during the holidays, Nintendo fulfills its promise to continue the flow of fun
for veteran and new gamers alike. Nintendo's first-quarter lineup is filled
with new games that expand the breadth and depth of the Wii library and build
on the kind of fun that has made Wii such a smash hit. The first three months
of the year are filled with games for everyone, from sure-fire favorites like
Wii Play(TM) to SSX(TM) Blur and The Godfather(R) Blackhand Edition from EA
and a new Prince of Persia(R) Rival Swords game from Ubisoft. Fans can enjoy
the classic Nintendo franchises such as The Legend of Zelda(R): A Link to the
Past(R) and the upcoming Mario Kart 64(TM) for the Wii Shop Channel. And on
Jan. 27, the News Channel goes live with global coverage provided by the
Associated Press.

"Our tremendous worldwide launch shows people, from experienced players to
non-players, are hungry for the kinds of entertainment only Wii provides,"
says Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime. "Wii hardware production
continues full bore, and every week we're delivering more incredible content
to further expand the experience."
Casual game players who recently discovered or rediscovered the thrills of
video games through games like Wii Sports(TM) and WarioWare(TM): Smooth Moves
will be glad to know Wii Play, a collection of nine new games in the Wii
Sports style, will be available Feb. 14. Wii Play includes games like
Billiards, Fishing and Shooting Range, a target-practice game in the style of
Nintendo's classic Duck Hunt(TM). Wii Play comes packaged with a Wii
Remote(TM) to highlight the fun multiplayer aspects of Wii, and to provide an
incredible value.
Veteran gamers who spent countless hours playing through The Legend of
Zelda(R): Twilight Princess will find new challenges by entering worlds
populated by everyone from Tiger Woods to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, thanks
to a deep list of new offerings from third-party publishers.
Beyond the current library of 34 new Wii titles, the schedule for upcoming
Wii releases includes:

Feb. 14 Wii Play with Wii Remote Nintendo
March 27 Disney's Meet the Robinsons Buena Vista
March Bust-A-Move Bash Majesco
March Prince of Persia Rival Swords Ubisoft
March TMNT (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) Ubisoft
March Bionicle Heroes Eidos
March Blazing Angels Squadrons of WWII Ubisoft
Q1 Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 EA
Q1 SSX Blur EA
Q1 The Godfather Blackhand Edition EA
Q1 Medal of Honor Vanguard EA
Q1 Sonic and the Secret Rings Sega

But new titles don't begin to describe the array of game action available
on Wii. With yesterday's Virtual Console release of The Legend of Zelda: A
Link to the Past from the NES(R), the library of downloadable Wii titles grows
to 42. Also, next week will see the addition of an all-time favorite, Mario
Kart 64. Nintendo will continue to make weekly announcements to update Wii
owners about upcoming releases.

<![CDATA[Japan Xbox 360 Game Sales Figures]]> gamescience.jpg

Famitsu Xbox 360 recently listed the initial sales of Xbox 360 launch titles in Japan. No wonder the console didn't do well there, Ridge Racer 6 was the top seller. I realize that RR6 has a cult following in Japan, but the arcade racer was probably the only Xbox 360 title I didn't like. Here's the full list:

1. Ridge Racer 6 29,891
2. Perfect Dark Zero 14,897
3. Need for Speed Most Wanted 6,842
4. FIFA 06: Road to FIFA World Cup 2,494
5. Tetris the Grand Master Ace 1,531
6. Every Party 641

<![CDATA[E3: The Godfather Hands On]]> I got about 15 minutes alone with The Godfather and I was pretty impressed. The game is a sort of a Grand Theft Auto but set in a world where your actions have much deeper and lasting repercussions.

The game is set in the 1930's New York of Mario Puzo's Godfather, casting you as a young up-and-coming henchman in the Corleone family and your decisions dictate your future.

The plot is drawn from the book and film, but only loosely. The team decided to just include a dozen "touchstone moments" from the Puzo work and instead mostly write their own stuff and tie it into the over-arching storyline.

You have 10 neighborhoods to work your muscle-flexing, window-breaking, cop-bribing ways in. The game is fairly open ended; you can get assignments by talking to your boss or just sorta roam around and try to extend the reach of your family.

I walked in to a butcher's shop and hit him up for a little payoff. When he said no I took a bat, conveniently located in a nearby corner, and went to town on his glass display case, cash register and scales. (You see, if I had beaten him to death he couldn't pay me.)

The Godfather uses a intuitive and visceral sort of control set-up that mimics Fight Night. To swing a bat, for instance, you pull back on the right thumbstick and then slam it forward. To grab someone, you pull in both triggers and hold. To choke you click down on both sticks, and to throttle you wiggle the sticks.

The shooting is also pretty cool. You can pinpoint specific body parts when you shoot. So if a guy is firing at you, you can choose to take him out with a headshot, kneecap him or shoot the gun out of his hand.

I also love the animations in the game. I unleaded a Tommy Gun into this old woman walking by and she jittered around, hands stuck straight down by her side as the bullets winged into her. As soon as the clip emptied, she slumped to the floor.

The game is a fantastic blending of GTA-mechanics and old-school mafioso violence. I think this could shape up to be one of the best games on the Xbox 360.

<![CDATA[E3:Ubisoft's Official King Kong Hands On]]> I got a front row seat to a screening of Ubi Soft's next huge title. In King Kong, you will play as both human-sized Jack Driscoll and building-sized King Kong.

Driscoll is played in first-person and Kong is played third-person. The video starts with Driscoll lying in a sacrifice pit; your hands are tied but you can still look around. You see a woman hanging from leather bindings and then in the distance you can see the trees parting and hear a ground-shaking thumping. Kong bursts onto the scene and grabs the woman and then makes his ways back into the primordial jungle.

A few seconds later a character who looks and sounds an awful lot like Jack Black, probably because it is him, runs up and cuts you free. After that the game becomes your more typical first-person action. You run away from the encampment as islanders toss flaming spears at you. You can grab them and throw them back or just high-tail it. As soon as you clear the spears you get attacked by a dinosaur and then the dinosaur then gets attacked by the biggest friggin millepede I've ever seen.

KING-KONG_Environment_47.jpgThe section of the game I saw, which was actual live Xbox game play, was an endless stream of running, fending off, and trying not to be eaten. It was very much like you were the smallest fish in a very dark and scary pond. But about halfway through the demo, the game switched, allowing you to control King Kong and suddenly you're at the top of the food chain.

Kong looks like he uses basic melee attacks, to take out the dinosaur trash. In the demo he did a lot of bitch-slapping, shoulder ramming and ground thumping. He also moved with this sort of muscular grace that really captured the power of the creature. It was shocking to watch him hurtling through the jungle swinging from giant trees and hanging from ivy-coated cliffs.

KING-KONG_Survival_75.jpgThe graphics look like something out of a Edgar Rice Burroughs book. The jungle appears almost hand-painted, fog drifting along the ground and creatures skittering around. Sitting in the screening room looking up at the movie-like game I felt like I was 7 again watching a Saturday morning matinee of King Kong or The Land that Time Forgot. I can't wait for this to come out. It's gonna be hot.

<![CDATA[Xbox nears 500 titles, but still no vibrator]]>
There are about 500 titles out for the Xbox now. I guess I hadn t been paying close enough attention because I would have guessed a few hundred less than that. Xbox 365 has the full list on their site as well as a little poll they are running about the best, worst, yada, yada, yada. What Xbox is really missing are all of those bizarre Japanese imports you get for the PS2 and GameCube. American s are way too straight-laced at heart to come out with anything like Rez with its famous vibrator peripheral.
