I bet Sony is showing some interest... They have a strong Internal Developer and well some of those IPs would work great. Sony is big in Europe also with gathering developers. Look at gurilla, their first title didn't do that well yet Sony picked them up.
EA is most likely to pick them up, especially considering they have had a publishing deal in the past (primarily Future Perfect). And they haven't been shy about acquiring properties and entire companies in the past.
I somewhat have hope for and simultaneously dread the idea of another TimeSplitters. Will it be made by the people who made the previous ones? Will it have the same irreverent humour and tight controls with fun and unique weapons? Will it have the proper ratio of monkeys to robots? Or is it a lost cause just like Haze?
It's comforting to know that Free Radical will still exist in some form. My question is, those 40 staff members that are left, are they the ones that had been working on TS4 or are those staff memebers gone on to greener pastures?
The more I hear about this story of Free Radical the more it seems like someone trying to get out of a contract with EA. Does EA still own Free Radical? Did it ever. Otherwise my theory is shit.
I still don't think we've seen the last of Timesplitters and whatever the new name is , it might as well be Free Radical still if they hired back a lot of the old employees.
I found a gamecube copy of the third game,(future perfect) yesterday for £10. I had never seen it anywhere else, to be perfectly honest I thought it was a PS2/Xbox only game.
I snapped it up because I loved the second one so much and I'm glad I did.
I've been laughing my arse off at it, how often can you say that about an FPS?
I'll be really sad if we lose that mix of game play and humour.
I can't think of any other franchise that would allow you to eavesdrop on gay guards or include cross dressing jokes, well not since they decided you couldn't play as Raiden in MGS4.
I really would like to see Infogrames buy this company. Phil is doing great things for Atari and I think Phil could make the Timesplitter series do really well.
If not them I wonder if Sony would like to buy them because the Timesplitter series has always sold well on the Playstation brand. Plus Then Sony has Guerrilla that makes great Shooters with awesome graphics and has Free Radical that gives co-op and split-screen
multi-player battles. So then Sony will have a really great FPS team.
If it can't be them I really want Microsoft to step in to buy the company this way there could be a really cool new Perfect Dark game. Plus may be FR could help Rare make a remake of Golden Eye.
@BlackIceJoe: Actually, according to several sources, the remake for Goldeneye is already done. They're just waiting for Nintendo to okay Activision to give the rights of the game to Microsoft, because Nintendo is still whining about its software attach rate, so Iwata-san decided, "if we can't get another awesome Goldeneye, no one will!", pretty much.
Shall we pool our resources and purchase TimeSplitters, fellow Kotakuites? Who knows more about what makes an entertaining, memorable video game experience that us? I'll even get the ball rolling with this crisp, $5 dollar bill that I just found in the dryer.

Maybe it's... time to split.
