Want a second...]]> tc4gc3_deal.jpgSuper Cheap Time Crisis 4 Alert! Want a second GunCon 3 for Time Crisis 4 multiplayer fun? If you balked at the $89.99 US asking price for Namco's latest gun shooter, maybe $49.99 is a bit easier to swallow. It's Amazon.com's current Lightning Deal and it's going fast. Proof that people still like shooting at things, regardless of nauseating the character design. Thanks to our tipsters for the heads up!

The new Guncon 3 looks to be no exception. It's apparently very accurate. How accurate? Way more accurate than the Wii-mote. Time Crisis 4 producer Teruaki Minami explains:

...Guncon 3's LED markers are actually much more accurate. Much better than Nintendo Wii's controller. In the Wii, there are only two LED points, but for the Guncon 3 there are six LED points, so it is more accurate than the Wii. The PlayStation 3 will be able to recognize the tilt of the Guncon 3, its distance from the monitor, and these things cannot be done with the Wii system.

What's more, the Guncon 3 also has SIXAXIS capabilities as well. It's also bright orange so some idiot doesn't use it to hold up a gas station.

<![CDATA[Guns On Time Crisis 4 and Guncon 3]]> In a sentence, if you like the Time Crisis series, you will like Time Crisis 4, since it doesn't deviate wildly from the tried-and-true. This is a bit disappointing in the graphics department, considering it marks the series' PS3 debut—they're nicer, for sure, but not wholly updated. The biggest (and best) change comes from the GunCon 3 in its dual-fisted goodness, which felt quite natural and quite nice, actually, and improved our gun-waving endurance. <![CDATA[Time Crisis 4 + GunCon 3]]>

Sure, the PLAYSTATION 3 may be lagging behind the Xbox 360 and Wii at this point, but wait until Time Crisis 4—and that sweet GunCon 3—finally ships. Once the first light gun shooter featuring a pair of metrosexual Eurotrash types finally arrives, I can't imagine anyone will balk at whatever price the PS3 is at that point. Plus, it has mini-games! Sorry, Nintendo, but you had a good run. It's Time Crisis 4 for PS3's time now.

<![CDATA[Gallery: Time Crisis Scans]]>
This morning Luke Ashcraft talked about how it will work, but now I get to bring you pretty pictures of Time Crisis 4's new guncon and the glimmer of hope that it will not be orange. Not so lucky for the Dutch who love them some orange, but great news for anyone who doesn't want to look like they're playing with something they dug out of the toy chest after a trip to the dentist. Now that you're a grown-up, you shouldn't ask for seconds. Shame on you.

<![CDATA[How The Time Crisis 4 Light Gun Works]]>

As we reported earlier today, Time Crisis 4 is coming to the PS3. Unfortunately, there won't be online battle mode, but new missions will be available for download. Above, that's Time Crisis director Takashi Satsukawa showing off the new GunCon. But since standard light guns work on standard CRT televisions, how will this work on HDTVs? A GameWatch piece (since taken down) explains how it will work. Chris Kolher at Game|Life translates:

For the GunCon 3, you place two markers on the left and right sides of your TV screen. A camera inside the muzzle of the gun detects the position of the markers, and thus you can use it regardless of your monitor [type]. There are six buttons on the device and two analog sticks. One of them is placed on a "sub-grip" that you hold with your left hand, and another is on the barrel of the gun.

North America and Europe will an orange version of the GunCon 3, while Japan will see a blue-ish black one because Bandai Namco trusts they won't use it to hold up liquor stores. Brian Ashcraft

<![CDATA[Time Crisis 4 Officially Coming to PS3]]>
Everyone can let their deep breath out, Time Crisis is officially coming to PS3 according to Famitsu. The PS3 version will feature an AC mode that will be a picture-perfect twin version of the arcade game. A third version of the lightgun (Guncon 3) for the game is in the works, which will hopefully fix the compatibility issue between the gun and LCD televisions. See? Everything's going to be just fine.

<![CDATA[Time Crisis 4 Coming To PS3? Yeah.]]> A listing popped up on specialty retailers Gamestop's and EBGames' websites recently for a PLAYSTATION 3 port of Namco's arcade light-gun shooter Time Crisis 4. Sporting a November release date and a $89.99 price tag, it's fairly solid confirmation that the game is coming this holiday season.

Gamespot contacted Namco Bandai Games in their recent Retail Radar column and received a typical "no comment" response. Yeah, it's coming. Hopefully, the port will look better than the Super System 256 (read PlayStation 2+) original.

<![CDATA[AOU2006: Namco's Time Crisis 4, Soul Calibur III AE]]> With the exception of Time Crisis 4, Namco really phoned in this weeks AOU.

They've ported Soul Calibur III to the arcade, updated Counter-Strike NEO, shoveled out another Taiko no Tetsujin (this time it's got Super Mario Bros. songs in it! *cough*) and Rockin' Bowl-O-Rama and redemption games and UFO catchers and zzzzzzz...

Let's hope they're hard at work on Tekken 6 for PlayStation 3!
