Rockstar has just announced Beaterator coming this summer to a PlayStation Portable near you, as well as a partnership with music producer Timbaland provide original music and a built-in sound kit for the game.

"I've always been a huge fan of Rockstar and love playing their games," said Timbaland. "I'm thrilled to be partnering with them and making music for Beaterator. I cannot wait to get this in the hands of our fans!"

The PSP version of the popular web-based app will include all of the beat making tools of the original, along with original games and challenges made specifically for the portable system.

If you ask me, this is exactly the type of app the PSP needs. Not just a rehash of a title already made twenty times on a console. Now if only I had a sense of rhythm.
