This is pretty awesome. I still have my old Dreamcast (and it works perfectly), but I encourage anybody without a Dreamcast to pick this up. The system really was a classic.
Every fiber of my being wants to buy one of these so badly....it doesn't help that you guys are all talking about the FANTASTIC games the Dreamcast had.
So let me get this straight, about a month ago, Sony drops the price on PS2. Kotaku reader reaction: stupid ass Sony, dropping the price on such an old system on its last legs is the worst move ever! I hate you! Drop the price on the PS3 already!
Today, Thinkgeek gets a completely unsupported console from a generation before the PS2. Price is the same as the still supported and steady selling PS2. Kotaku reader reaction: z0mg! Do want!
I understand nostalgia, but, this doesn't seem to make any sense to me.
@XRFlip05: I think the problem there was it was billed as a 'massive Sony announcement', or at least perceived as such, and it was somewhat anticlimatic. This on the other hand was completely out of the blue, for a system that it was impossible to buy new (or so it seemed). The Dreamcast is something of a cult console, if you're not sure why it's such awesome news, it might well not be for you. Also yes it was a PS2 competitor.
@TearsandScreams: They never billed it as some "massive" announcement. They said they had an announcement to make. Everyone else tried to build it up as massive. When it wasn't, everyone got pissed.

@TearsandScreams: Don't worry, it's not you, but by second biggest internet pet peeve is people hyping things up themselves and then getting pissed off when it doesn't meet their overreaching expectations.
I already have like 6 of the damn things new still in their boxes, including a prototype, so I don't think I'll be getting one of these. Mighty tempting though!
Awesome. If these are still available next month, I'll pick myself up one. Loved the Dreamcast, it's a shame Sega pulled support so early.
