@dagamer34: I remember reading in like August that Rock Band 3 is in development, and I'm pretty sure I read it on Kotaku but I just can't find the article. #thewhorockband
Nope, shouldn't happen and I'd bet against it. Why, because they already have like 15 songs in the game. It doesn't make any sense unless it would include the songs you bought previously.
Now the Doors, that would make sense, and be cool. So if the holy grail of Zeppelin continues to not be available then I think U2 makes more sense at this point(not having any songs in any music game).
I say just go for the 'Tickling the Ivories" edition of Rock Band, giving alot of people what they want...piano/keyboard. And yes, I'm cool with it even if it means Billy Joel on RockBand (shut up, just because you don't like Joel doesn't mean he doesn't have good music that would be fun to play). #thewhorockband
@Koztah: Rock Band: Rush should come with a keyboard that's permanently attached to a guitar, along with a mic, so you have to play them both and sing all at the same time. #thewhorockband
I don't see this happening, as there are a lot of songs by The Who in Rock Band already. In addition to this, it only seems worthwhile to do a Beatles-style game if the band is hard to get the rights to (otherwise, they might as well just release DLC).
In all honesty, the only bands I can see them giving The Beatles: Rock Band treatment are Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin. No one else is legendary enough (and hard enough to get permission to release DLC for) or have the mass appeal. #thewhorockband
The Beatles should be the exception, not the rule. This game is going to be a harder sell - we've already got a bunch of tracks from them in the regular game.
The Who isn't that great anyway. Yeah, I said it. #thewhorockband
So far we've had Pearl Jam, Green Day, and now The Who step forward with statements that they are getting a Rock Band game.
I get the feeling that this isn't a series of band titles, but rather HMX's 2010 approach to the Track Packs they frequently release.
The first two they sold (Volume 1 and Volume 2) were compilations of 20 different popular songs from a variety of artists and genres.
Then they released three genre themed packs (Classic Rock, Country, Metal) containing a mix of old DLC and new content.
Since we've seen they're willing to include new content on Track Packs now, I wouldn't be surprised if in 2010 they sell a few Track Packs that center around certain bands.
Namely, Pearl Jam...Green Day...and The Who. #thewhorockband
Keep in mind that even given their whole catalog, we still won't get all of Who's Next as some of the master recordings got stolen. That's why Harmonix didn't put out the whole album before, like they wanted to do. I think maybe Kotaku had an article about that. #thewhorockband
@Ty Snouffer: See, that got me thinking. That's something 'new' the game would bring (Beatles had vocal harmonies): the double bass kit (or in RB terms, two kick pedals). We know GH has it in Expert+ drums.
Since it's known Moon started using two bass drums and a lot of the songs feature a lot of bass drum usage it would be a new feature for inclusion.
I wouldn't look forward to purchasing a whole new kit though; no matter how much I love The Who. #thewhorockband
They can burn our books, they can burn our paintings, but they can't stop us singing and making music.
This statement makes no sense - burning books, for example, IS a freedom of expression. And it didn't stop anyone from writing the book; it had to be written and published in order to be burned.
I get the point he was trying to make, I just think he went a weird way about it. #thewhorockband
@DorkimusPrime: Burning books has been a symbol of censorship for a long long time.
By destroying the book your denying it, stopping people from reading it, generally because you disagree with it.
Google Nazi's, something should pop up. #thewhorockband
@Blore07: Others, particularly certain fringe religious groups, burn books out of protest. So you have to take it in context. Remember, it's only censorship if it's done by the government. Otherwise it's mere disagreement. #thewhorockband
@DorkimusPrime: Oh, you mean like when those Christians burnt "Satans Books" (Includes several versions of the bible that other religious groups look to as the true bible) I'd say it counts as censorship most of the time when its fanatics burning the books.Book burning, by whomever, is always going to be considerd censorship, just because you dislike something and are protesting it, it doesnt mean you have the right to destroy somthing others may not protest against, be it many, or one man, every piece of liturature on the earth has an audience. #thewhorockband
edit: Obviously theres more than one example of book burning but I chose this one as its the most recent one that comes to mind.
For those who may be wondering the church that chose to burn these books was the North Carolina Church, they burnt bibles that werent thier standard King James version, Here's a link to the article [rawstory.com]
@Blore07: You have the right to destroy it if you buy it or it's given to you for that purpose. The church in question owned those books or otherwise bought them - they didn't steal them or anything so they have the right to do as they wish. (Or, at least, it's not presented in that story or any other that they stole them or otherwise acquired them incorrectly)
They're idiots, don't get me wrong, but they're expressing an opinion. #thewhorockband
@DorkimusPrime: Thats completely irrelivant.Baisically, they have the right to go out and buy every copy of, lets say harry potter.they then burn every copy in existance, wiping harry potter off the face of the earth.thats censorship, wether they have the right to do it or not is irrelivant, its still censorship. #thewhorockband
Edit: And sorry, just because someone is expressing an opinion, it doesnt mean that opinion cant lead to censorship.
If I have my own TV network, and its my opinion that shows shouldnt have swear words in, so I bleep out these words, thats censorship, just because it was my opinion they shouldnt have swear words it changes absolutely nothing.
It was the Hitlers opinion that people shouldnt read Jewish literature, so was it not censorship that the Nazis burnt so many books? By all means, it was their right, they were in power afterall.
@DorkimusPrime: Really? I hear swearing all the time on certain networks and not on others. Different shows, different times of day. Some movies aired on TV have censored sentences, others let it all hang out. #thewhorockband
@Koztah: You're confusing broadcast networks with cable. Some cable networks "self-censor" but there's no rules against it because the FCC doesn't control the cable; just the airwaves. What they do to themselves is certainly not censorship - it's what they choose to do. #thewhorockband
@Blore07: Well since you've invoked Godwin's Law twice now I guess the conversation is over. Seriously, this isn't about the Nazis. You've taken an example of government censorship and stretched it to mean that private individuals can't possibly ever do the same thing. I mean, it's great that you're covering WWII in school right now or whatever, but to drag up a single group of people over and over and try to make them the rule is a total red herring. #thewhorockband
@DorkimusPrime: Haha, ok you got me, the ole nazi line is old, but now your completely steering away from the original point, and that fact is, book burning = censorship.
I notice how you picked that out because you had an arguement against it but not the harry potter analogy.
You dont have a leg to stand on saying that trying to stop people reading something is somehow not censorship.
It may be protest, it may be just in the eyes of the burner, but its censorship all the same. #thewhorockband
@Blore07: but in a very legal sense, the only people that can censor are the government. Different words, different connotations, I suppose, but I don't think we're really talking about the same thing. And probably neither of us are talking about the same thing as Roger Daltrey. #thewhorockband
Hmm.... Maybe Harmonix has been reading the tea leaves and sees the future as these band-centric titles rather than the standard 80 songs-with-20-you-care-about model.
If this is the case then we might not get RB3 next year, instead just getting a new, different band title each year whose content isn't exportable to other RB titles.
They are going to run out of bands pretty quickly though, and I don't know of any that would have as much widespread appeal as the Beatles.
Well, until we hear more I guess I'll be in the 'just give us another Who 10-pack of DLC instead' camp. #thewhorockband
I love The Who so this would be great if true. What I think it has over The Beatles is the live stuff. We already know Live at Leeds is fantastic and if you can incorporate that along with the weirder stuff like Tommy (or Townshend's Lifehouse idea =p)
But yeah, a lot of the tracks have been released as DLC. Still, there are many more greats that have not been used.
Also, how much will it be? ONE HUNDRED ENGLISH POUNDS?! I want it, I want it. You caaaan't have it!
