"Go capture that point!"
"Defend that point!"
"We need archer support!"
"Use your flame sword!"
"Nice shot!"
"Our scout has taken out the enemy! Huzzah!"
"Look at the might of the wizard's magic!"
Delete the demo!
Oh wait, he never said that.

I played Dynasty Warriors. It was more fun than this.

Too bad the demo itself isn't.
Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever played a LoTR game that I've liked. Plus, I'm not sure I want to know what Mr. Tolkein would think of his glorious epic (though not my favorite of his) being turned into superficial games anyway.
I think he'd probably vomit into a bag, set it on fire, then drink it back down.

I would ask them to make an effort of imagination sufficient to understand the irritation (and on occasion the resentment) of an author, who finds, increasingly as he proceeds, his work treated as it would seem carelessly in general, in places recklessly, and with no evident signs of any appreciation of what it is all about."

A book based movie based game. Remember, LoTR was a book, as well...and I imagine it's much more difficult to make a game out of a book that's good.
(Actually, now I'm interested: can anyone name a game based on a book [or a game based on a movie based on a book] that was any good?)

someone clearly has not played the battle for middle earth games. Rise of the witch king is fantastic

agreed, it could have been WAY better, but it still offers the one thing i liked best about the battlefront series, super fun and often hilarious multiplayer.
this is a great game for battlefront lovers and people who want to have some folks over and get wasted and hacknslash all nite.
one of my main gripes - something that you mentioned too... the HORSES and WARGS! that shit would have been so sweet if you didnt get knocked off every time a measley lil arrow hits you.
like i said though... great fun with friends in the room or in a private party.

Then word got out that the game was crap, and that was all I needed to hear. What happened Pandemic? You guys have put out some great games, and now you serve up this steamer. What a waste.

I remember when people used to say this was impossible on the Xbox 360 and that the MGO debacle would have been avoided on XBL. >.>

But that doesn't mean it wouldn't have been as annoying on XBL, just that EA's process is better than Konami's. If that would be the price of having MGS4 on the 360 I don't think Microsoft would stop Konami.

Reminded me more of Ninety-Nine Nights -- walk to the hordes of enemies, push the same few buttons, repeat. There was a bit of variety involved, more so than N3, but the style wasn't there.
I'm skipping on this one.
