Actually, my girlfriend loves this game, and she hasn't had much experience with Magic. Yes, it stinks that you can't customize decks ... but, it lowers the barrier of entry without destroying the game.
I bought the 1st expansion ... not bad - it's got a mini-campaign, three new decks, and some more of those fun challenges. It's definitely been worth the price of purchase for the amount of use it's gotten.
Bah. I still have my Duels of the Planeswalkers by Microprose from '94. It took some tweaking to get to run on a modern machine but it's still the best MtG game out there.
Just wish there were more cards for it. Like Stangg. #magic
Ya know... I hate to be "that" asshole but this is all probably "My Sims" fault.
I do sincerely wish them, and by extension the people at Raven Software all the best of luck in finding gainful employment for them and their families.
@Psudonym: It is also entirely possible that they grew a LOT in anticipation of Spore and all the associated spin offs. When it didn't reach Sims level sales they had to reevaluated.
Sucks how volatile of an industry this is. It is like making movies, only without the unions or $20 million paychecks.
@Moleculor: I'm among those Maxis fans who found Spore lacking. Something about it never struck the brilliant chords that were promised. But I think that's all I need to say about that. Spore, the good and the bad, have been discussed quite in depth already. It still doesn't change the fact that I wish Maxis a speedy recovery, and the unemployed good luck in the market.
Possibly the result of the Sims franchise not quite selling as many as the company would have liked them to. They need to make a new simcity game for consoles and then they will be back in business.
Does Will Wright still work at Maxis? If he's not involved much over there anymore, I can see why EA would be cautious about the studious future endeavors.

Glad to see there are more expansions on the way!

Also: NEVER... EVER... put Simcity on a console that it isn't designed to be on. They made if for the Wii/DS with Simcity Creator and it sucked.
We do however need a new Simcity for the PC...

The tone got started with your 360 killing kids in China, and then was followed up in short intervals by actual bad news in the industry.
Crappy day. Crappy mood, and no uplifting silliness from Kotaku.

Modern Warefare 2 is now an iPhone exclusive. Other versions canceled.
Expect a PSP, DS, and Wii port, though.

It promised cool stuff, it delivered about half of what I thought it would.
The fact that Evolution wasn't automatic was my biggest gripe :(
