I've always found it hard to drum up excitement for the handheld Zelda games. I've always enjoyed the ones I've played, but it's never something that makes me really jump for joy. Dunno why.
Console Zelda games, on the other hand, I will always buy. Always. Can't get enough.
@singing pigs in elevators: Absolutely! Why fix what ain't broken? I understand the desire to move to the handheld platform due to the Japanese consumer loving the idea of playing Zelda on the train, but honestly I think it has diminished the impact of the series. The same applies to multi player, I don't want to compete with other Links in a mini-game, I want to go out an find things so I can find things. The way that most of the Zeldas have worked thus far.
I am still baffled as to why there isnt a Windwaker s(pr)equel on the Wii yet. That would be a major hit!
@WhiteMåge: The link up there in the article that says "multiplayer" leads to a previous article about Spirit Tracks multiplayer mode where you play as one of each of the four colored Links from Four Swords.... sure it wasn't really the topic of this particular article, but it's in the game somewhere anyway. :)
@fearing: Still misleading as hell. Those links are referencing four swords, I don't think a single personw ould see that and think "Oh, Zelda spirit tracks!"
@WhiteMåge: No, the link within the article, in the second paragraph, leads directly to an article about Spirit Tracks multiplayer mode, which I believe the picture in this article is from, which plays similar to Four Swords multiplayer. Not too big a deal, just sayin, I think it DOES have that style multiplayer in it judging by the linked article.
@fearing: I know that, I mean the picture itself is misleading regardless, as those links drawn in that style with those colors are the four swords links. The multiplayer mode is referencing four swords, so that art looks like four swords art.
Meh, I might pick this up if I get a DS again, but like you, I never bothered finishing Phantom Hourglass either. I'm just not too fond of the handheld Zelda series.
Also, it sounds like they're forcing crappy controls on you again just for the sake of using the touch screen. Yeah, I know, it's kinda the hallmark of the DS, but you don't have to make Every Single Thing done through the touchscreen. I hated, hated, HATED not being able to use the little d-pad to move around in the last game... I mean, they could have at least given me the option to switch to that.
@eimajtl: Actually, I like stylus-only games if they're done well. When the d-pad is used for directional movement, it just hurts the hell out of my thumb -- especially in action-y games.
@AJ Glasser: I don't mind having to use the stylus either, it's fun when it's implemented well. I just really didn't like having to use the stylus to move Link around, it felt way too cumbersome. Using the d-pad never bothered my thumbs, though, so guess that's one of the reasons I didn't like the stylus movement too much.
Having small hands ain't so bad when it comes to playing the DS. =]

Though I'll admit, they're pretty similar. Still, there was just an article today that revealed multiplayer, which is one of the links.
You can always check out Gametrailers for some multiplayer videos too.
