Utterly saddened by the lack of Takuma Sakazaki, aka. Mr. Karate, for fighting game dads and the motha-funkin' King of All Cosmos not being voted the the Greatest Dad of All Time.

Hey, what is that painting you've got there at the top of this entry? The old man with his dying son (I assume) on the rug? Looks awesome.

Wait a sec, Ditto has no gender. That means it is neither father nor mother, but depending on the circumstances, Ditto can act as either one. Hmm..

    Aw, screw this!

    *tosses ideas out of window*

When Ditto acts as the father, then it counts as being a dad. :P

The fighting games list is a bit of stretch, seeing as those games rarely have any good story at all, or that anyone actually cares about... But I gotta agree with Eli Vance, best VG dad ever... tear.

Solid list, but I'm surprised at the mention of Jecht, yet no mention of Laguna.

You spend a good portion of FF VIII playing as Laguna and his flashbacks; hell, you even get to control him meeting the woman who ultimately gives birth to Squall, your protagonist. That's right; FF VIII allowed you to witness your own conception.

Besides, Jecht was a dick and Laguna was awesome. I know it's the least popular game in the series, but it hit the father-mark first.

@Miksho: They should include all the Final Fantasy fathers.

Let's start off with Cloud's dad- abandoned him at an early age, leaving young Cloud starved for love, forcing him into joining the army to find it, in the form of Zack, who he viewed as father figure. Of course, this death just caused him to be even more screwed up in the head.

Sephiroth- His dad was a scientist? Or a lab specimen? Who fucking knows?

Cait Sith- His dad was a prisoner, who was presumably locked up for child molestation, and now controls the every action of this plush cat from his cell, including forcing him to commit suicide.

Yuffie- Her dad was a violent nationalist who was driven so hard to protect his country that he abandoned his daughter, leaving her to try and garner his attention by attacking the highest-ranked SOLDIER officer on the planet.

Yuna- Her dad raised her to be a human sacrifice, so they could continue an eternal loop of such.

Vaan- His dad let him go out in public dressed like that.

Vivi- His father created him as a prototype weapon in order to be used as mass-produced weapons.

Zidane- His father created him solely to kill his older brother, who displeased him. When Zidane fails to live up to Garland's wishes, Garland tries to kill the both of them himself.

We could go on forever about all the dick fathers in Final Fantasy games.

Don't even get me started on Red Mage's Father from Final Fantasy I.

Another game where the parent did such a good job that the son spends all their time avenging him. As for not being able to determine his merits after he died in the game, you can gain enough from the allies he made that Ryo comes across to tell he was a decent person.
