Massive Sims 3 Q&A Tells All
Do you have questions about The Sims 3? Well EA has just unleashed a massive amount of answers in the form a a 30-question Q&A document that covers everything from the new character personality system to what kind of parties your sims can participate in. Of course the big question on all major fans of the series is whether or not The Sims 2 expansion they spent hundreds of dollars on would be hitting the trash bin. You might be needing a bigger bin.
There are so many innovations in The Sims 3 so it’s really not possible to transfer items or Sims from previous games. The level of detail in The Sims 3 is so high that any conversion from older games would not be satisfying for players.
Oh well. On the plus side, the average The Sims 2 player probably won't have the system on hand to run The Sims 3, so you can at least futz about with the old game while awaiting your PC upgrade. Hit the jump for the full Q&A, translated from Simlish for your convenience. More »

The Sims 3 Collector's Edition Detailed
I wasn't even aware that EA's The Sims 3 was anywhere near the point where they could announce a collector's edition of the game, but here we are, with an official press release and everything. Select North American retailers are now accepting pre-orders for The Sims 3 Collector's Edition, $69.99 worth of virtual people, a drop in the bucket compared to how much fans will spend on expansions over the course of the game's lifespan. Included in the super mega mega edition of the game is the game itself, which is always handy, a The Sims Plumbob USB drive with a matching green Carabiner, an exclusive in-game sports car, a tips and hints guide, and some Plumbob stickers.
The whole shebang should be hitting stores on February 20th, giving The Sims 2 fans around 4 months to collect all of the expansions for that version and then uninstall them to make room for the next batch. More »

The Sims 3 E3 Trailer
Freshy pried from the game's homepage, here's the first trailer for Maxis' upcoming top-seller-for-five-years sure thing, The Sims 3. And yes, it looks better, and the promise of a whole town is certainly a pleasant one, but every time they start to lure me in with those kind of deals, I hear one of them open their mouth, and all bets are off. -

The Sims 3 Gets Teased
Sure, we've known that The Sims 3 was coming as early as November of 2006, when EA essentially semi-announced the thing in an earnings report. We also know that EA is planning The Sims 4 and a gross of expansion packs over the next decade, but that's just based on common sense.
Looks like we may get our first real look at chapter three in the amazing Sims saga as early as March 19, just two weeks from today. That's according to EA's teaser site, which provides all the information you've seen in this very post, but it appears that Sim jewel icon rendering is going to be just stunning!
