I can't help to think this will be abused. With these kind of tools it should be easy to create levels that can easily be defeated by certain archtypes. Even though all enemies have a long and short range attack, unless they are designed for it the off attack type is weaker. So if you load up a level with all one type of enemies it is easier for a certain archtypes to kick arse in it.(ie having all brawler type enemies is easier for flying long range heroes.)
Plus if I am not mistaken, you can decide the placement of enemies (this I am not completely sure about). If that is true, you can easily set up levels with enemies so spaced apart that you don't have to worry about drawing adds into the battle. Again making it easy. Or bunch tons together so a group of aoe types can clean up easily.
Just like LBP, the sets that allow people to get stuff easier get rated higher. Same would be the case here filling up top ranked levels with easy xp levels.
Personally, if I could design easier levels so I can quickly powerlevel through the lower levels I would do it in a heartbeat. Would love to hit 14 fast to get the travel power asap.
so about 4 months since release? Ehh thats on par with blizz's usual scedule for patches. Would be nice if they could add patches and content a little bit faster. The most popular MMO is also the slowest MMO.
Oh boy. Those Blizzard fuckers really know how to string it out... Oh well, at least the WoW guys are saving money by just playing one game for $20 a month.
@Brlito: When you look at the industry standard, other games charges for most of the content that Blizzard has been releasing for free. SOE would have milked everything in the past 4 years and turned it into 5 or 6 expansions...or more, rather than 2 paid expansions.
I'm fairly sure they mean you can now take your land mount, walk into water, and not be dismounted.
I used to smack my little brother when he mention "Water Mounts :D!" like it was such a cool thing. It's not. All you little kids out there bugging bigger brothers about "Water Mounts" ..go die.
@@ph15h~!: Yeah it's not a whole new type of mount. It just means that if you go into deep water on your land mount, it won't disappear anymore, it'll start swimming.
I'm kind of saddened by the fact that this stuff goes out on test realms; the instant the real patch hits, everyone will already know how to win every fight down to the last detail.
I wish there was more love for "solving" the fights in WoW, rather than simply wowheading the strategy and getting the execution right...
@UltimatePancakeSensation: Would you rather there be no testing at all on raids? The point of having players test the fights before they go live is so that developers can observe the end users for better clarity when parsing and tweaking numbers. Make sure that the design intentions are being understood by the players. If they're not and players aren't getting it, they need to alter the encounter. The end result is a better developed and polished encounter that is then presented to the live servers.
That being said, there is nothing stopping guilds from abstaining from reading strats posted by guilds on the PTR and just doing it live. But the basic premise of gamers is that we like to win. We like to get to the cheese in the middle of the maze. The developer's job is to let us get that cheese while giving us a proportional challenge to overcome first. Besides, some raids, even if you know exactly what you are supposed to do, are still really hard to execute. Have you done 10 man 3 drake Sartharion yet? Knowing what to do and actually doing it are two different things.
@Slust: Knowing what to do and actually doing it are two different things.
That's really my point. WoW, as played by most players, is a game about doing it right, not figuring out how to do it. In general, a small handful of people figure out how to do it, and everybody else reads up on it or uses an add-on.
Me, I like to solve puzzles. I play a single player console game, figure out how to beat the boss, and get that happy feeling of achievement that comes with solving the puzzle. I look at the boss encounters in WoW and see that there are many marvelous puzzles out there, and can only imagine how enjoyable it would be to be able to solve them.
I'm not saying that following the instructions correctly isn't an achievement, but that feeling, that memory, that you get when you figure something out for yourself...that's something that stays with you forever.
That being said, I'm not advocating removing raids from the test servers, simply lamenting the fact that even if you wait until the actual patch is released, there won't be a chance to figure things out because the information will already be out there; and as you stated, that is the choice the populous has made, my lament targeting the mindset of gamers rather than the game itself.

So in theory, if I include a #test tag in addition to the #speakup tag, this should show up in a #test thread as well.

For exapmple, click your #test tag, or this one, and look on the top right next to the articles.

If my account didn't get hacked and Blizzard refused to give me back all my gold I'd still be playing...
But then I'd be missing on everything other than Wow...

In all seriousness ,this was news to me, and possibly to other people who have quit, or might be interested in playing the game.
