The title has been spruced up and optimized for the PSP's screen size.

Graphics have been tweaked and there's a new character costume, too.

Tenchu Kurenai is out January 28 in Japan and priced at ¥3,990 (US$43).

<![CDATA[From Software PSP Announcement Baffles]]> As we predicted, but not as From Software planned, the countdown clock that launched last week gets its reveal in this week's Famitsu — on newsstands this Friday, leaked on the internet right now.

From Software is releasing a slew of PSP ports of PlayStation 2 game, and they are largely, you'll never guess, giant mecha Armored Core and stealth Tenchu games. SHOCKING!

The games are Armored Core 3 Portable (out July 30), Armored Core: Last Raven (out March 2010), Armored Core: Silent Line Portable (out November), Tenchu: Wrath of Heaven (out August) and Tenchu: Fatal Shadows (out January 2010).

There is one one curve ball — a genuine surprise, even. From Software is porting PS2 game Fu-un Shinsengumi to the PSP. Originally published by Konami, the game was developed by Genki and features artwork by Metal Gear Solid artist Yoji Shinkawa. Not sure how From Software came into possession of this title, though. From Software should have a countdown clock to that.

<![CDATA[From Software Joins The Teaser Website Club]]> Best known for giant robot Armored Core and stealth Tenchu games, Japanese developer is following the heard of developers launching teaser sites that announce and announcement.

The site features two doors blocked by a velvet rope. There's a placard that reads "2009.5.22 OPEN". With the number of Armored Core and Tenchu games From Software churns out, there's a good possibility that the company is announcing, that's right, an Armored Core or a Tenchu game. Those guys might as well have a giant mecha dressed as a ninja holding that velvet rope.

So the site goes live next Friday — never mind that Famitsu scans leak days before that. But we'll play along and pretend to be surprised. At least From Software isn't spamming our Twitter feed with announcements of announcements.

<![CDATA[You Got Ninjas In My PSP]]> Tenchu: Shadow Assassins sneaks onto the PSP this month, totally wrecking my resolve to save up money for a PSP2.

This was a pretty understated port. Ubisoft announced it via Twitter post this morning and Wii platform pages on various press sites were amended with tiny "PSP" tags. Two screenshots also emerged, showing comparable graphics as the Wii version that came out in February.

Tenchu looks like a straight-up port, which will probably benefit Shadow Assassins more than it hurts it. At least some of the twitchy controls will be sorted out, hopefully.

Tenchu: Shadow Assassins hits the PSP March 24 in the US and will make its stealthy way to Europe in April.

<![CDATA[Marketing Gone Wild: Tits, Ass & Tenchu: Shadow Assassins]]> I swear to God this "review" of Ubisoft's Tenchu: Shadow Assassins from Girls Gone Wild founder Joe Francis is real. A heady blend of flesh, gameplay and tiger growls makes it 2009's best video.

And by "best," I might actually mean the most confounding, flagrant display of "college girls" wearing nothing but Tenchu logos and fake tanner in the name of shilling a Wii game. Good show, Ubisoft and company.

We really can't stress enough how borderline NSFW this is, but hopefully the on display boobs gave you a pretty good hint.

Tenchu. So. Hot.

<![CDATA[Yes, Tenchu 4 Is To Be Released In The West]]>
Good news, cat ninja lovers: Tenchu 4 is getting a Western release. Previously confirmed only for a Japanese release, developers Acquire have signed a deal with Ubisoft that'll see the game distributed throughout North America and Europe. No word on a release date, but the game will be playable at TGS, so we'll check it out then, see if the cat handling's up to scratch.

<![CDATA[Tenchu 4 Answers Ninja Cat Gameplay Prayers]]>

From Software and Acquire are bringing Tenchu-style ninja action to the Wii with Tenchu 4, the eleventh game in the series. This promotional clip, via Insert Credit, shows that Acquire is on the right track, finally letting us take control of kitties for some of the game's stealthier sections. It would appear that ninja-trained cats needs a bit of coercion to enter stealth mode, but when they do, expect serious pussy action.

<![CDATA[Tenchu 4 Heading to Wii]]> The most recent issue of Japanese game mag Famitsu announces that ninja stealth action title Tenchu 4 is headed for the Wii. The game will be developed by Acquire who worked on the early Tenchu titles and Armored Core dev From Software who published Xbox 360 exclusive Tenchu Z.

<![CDATA[Capcom Buys Tenchu Devs]]> Capcom announced over the weekend that they've bought K2 Studios, best known for their work on the more recent, more rubbish Tenchu games, as well as Valhalla Knights . That's probably not the reason for the purchase, though: K2 also did some outsource work for Capcom on Lost Planet, and are also helping SNK with the latest Samurai Shodown. The move's aimed at making Capcom's "game development activities more efficient and speedy", while "Capcom also believes that pursuing a business strategy based on closer ties with K2 will help increase the value of the entire Capcom Group". And hey, who are we to argue.
