I think the fight scenes should be pretty good at least since half the main actors are trained stuntment/martial artists.
Also 3 of the leads (Jin, Eddie, and Marduke) were good enough to get beaten up by Tony Jaa in a single fight scene, so that at least has to count for something.
Where is Law in that pic? I don't see him. If the article is referring to the dude on his knees, I think that's actually Jun Kazama (check the flame motif on his right trouser leg)
@Gaff: @JayEdGahoover: I'm not saying it is - it doesn't look like it to me. But I assume he means the big, central character with the metal arm on the right hand side. Certainly facially he most resembles Law. Besides that it can only be the crouching dude in middle left who we're all sure is Jin.
I just doubt Law would be that prominent. #tekkenthemovie
@Koztah: That's a horror movie. Not to sound like I'm nitpicking or anything, but you can pretty much give a horror movie any plot, characters, setting, and dialogue and as long as it's REALLY scary, the movie could be considered good, but not that good.
I'm mostly thinking about the stupid ones. As in, the latest Street Fighter movie, or the upcoming Prince of Persia movie, or the planned Uncharted movie, or the in-production-hell Halo movie. #tekkenthemovie
@moose39: Uncharted was scripted and shot as a movie. It could very well work - in fact, with a budget and some help from a film studio (*eyes Sony Pictures*) I'm pretty sure Naughty Dog themselves could pull it off. #tekkenthemovie
@puresewas1de: Xiaoyu first appeared on Tekken 3. But since this is a movie and Hollywood loves to kill things and confuse loyal gamers, you probably will get your wish. Unless the director actually trying to keep the storyline intact to the first Tekken.
Edit: Didn't see the IMDB plot synapse. I guess if you don't see Panda then you wouldn't see Xiaoyu either.
If you live in the L.A. area you can go the premiere on Thursday 11/05. See details below.

Going over the cast on IMDB they included all the Tekken characters I would want. I think this will be better than the King of Fighters movie, but will still probably be a crappy movie overall.
Destroy existing cannon
Have 4 short fight scenes like DOA and MK
Have one fight scene
Brand the characters with names from the series when there nothing like the characters
Create a half arsed new story that wont fit with the time line
BE SHIT
Yeah sorry but you destroyed DOA your gunna destroy PoP and now tekken please leave my fav franchises alone. is there really enough profit in game to movie adaptions?
the poblem is you cant make a decent game to film adaption unless the game was originally a war based game as shown by the halo shorts which combined are greater than ANY game to movie adaption ever. #tekkenthemovie
@craigcarter: Actually, the plot for the film sounds like a regular plot to a Tekken game. According to Wiki, the plot for the film is:
"In the year of 2039, after World Wars destroy much of civilization as we know it, the remaining territories are no longer run by governments, but by corporations; the mightiest of which is the Mishima Zaibatsu. In order to keep the masses down, Mishima sponsors the King of Iron Fist Tournament, or Tekken, in which fighters battle until one is left standing, who in turn will receive a lifetime of stardom and wealth. We are introduced to this violent world through the eyes of Jin Kazama who enters the tournament in order to avenge the death of his mother that he blames upon the Mishima Zaibatsu's most powerful and controlling chairman – Heihachi Mishima. He knows that the only way to get close enough to Mishima to kill him is to win the tournament, but in doing so, he begins to uncover his own past and inner demons as well as exposing a dark underbelly to Tekken that threatens the very existence of humanity."
Now don't you agree that sounds Tekken-ish?
People are too quick to say a video game film will suck. This film looks and sounds like a truly faithful adaptation. #tekkenthemovie
@Koda89: That doesn't sound like Tekken at all! This sounds like Tekken 3, Hollywood loves making sequels so why would they start on the 3rd one instead of the first one? #tekkenthemovie
@Neko_Tech: Probably because the third seemed most interesting to the writers, and as much as Hollywood likes making sequels they can always make prequels. #tekkenthemovie
@Neko_Tech: "That doesn't sound like Tekken at all! This sounds like Tekken 3"
...
What?
I get that you mean "it doesn't sound like Tekken 1," or I hope you mean that, but... if it somehow ends up being a perfectly enjoyable action movie, would you walk out of the theatre saying:
"That would've been great if it didn't sound like Tekken 3."
Besides, you're judging a martial arts action movie on the story. A Tekken story at that. Sticking close to Tekken means the presence of a boxing kangaroo. They can only do so much.
@mr_godot: If they're going with Tekken 3 story line then it MUST have Gon!! =3
I can honestly see why they've chosen with the 3rd series as the movie plot since the first two didn't really have anything.
IMO, they should do Ninja Gaiden instead (I rather have them not do any video game adaptation at all) since it features only one main person instead of dozen of characters. #tekkenthemovie
I don't think anyone in the movie industry will learn that making a movie based on a fighting video game will automatically suck. The reason for this is because when you make a movie based off of characters that people know, then you are working against high expectations, as well as making a storyline that either goes with the storyline of the game (which people will complain about how unoriginal it is), or strays from the storyline of the game, making it original (where people will complain about how it doesn't fit with the game storyline at all).
You just cant make people happy by making a movie based on a video game. Just make a fighting movie with original characters, and original storyline, and make it interesting, and people may actually like it. If people want to see something based on a video game, either get a book, or play the game.
@Koztah: They could fit in the animal characters as mutant monsters that the contestants have to fight, kind of like the tigers in Gladiator except they're mutant monsters.... one wearing a tutu. #tekkenthemovie
@jsvalen3: They could, but I wonder if they'd pay for the rights to use Gon. He was a manga character before he had anything to do with Tekken. #tekkenthemovie
@puresewas1de: I probably wouldn't attribute it to them not being attractive, which they are. It's just not their fault they're posed in a generic glamor stance rather than being badass king of iron fist fighters.
Tucked away in the corner like that, not to mention all the other haphazard elements. This mockup better only be for the expo and not for wide release. We expect better from our posters these days than cheaply putting together production stills under some blue filter and light rays. #tekkenthemovie
@puresewas1de: I can't believe noone mentioned that there's been a tekken movie for years.. It sucked, but several sites have it viewable online, streaming. #tekkenthemovie
