The Wii game will be out this winter, use the Wii-mote and Nunchuk, but won't have online, it seems. Fair enough, the game seems like an old school Sega platformer — a good thing. Says the game's lead designer, Yoshihisa Hashimoto:

In our minds, this game will have more in common with the older Sonic Adventure series. It has no relation to Sonic the Hedgehog [the 360/PS3 game] or Sonice And The Secret Rings... We wanted Sonic fans to love Sonic even more. Also, for people who are not familiar with Sonic, we think that this will be a great way to introduce them to Sonic The Hedgehog.
THANK GAWD. The game is supposedly being developed internally by Team Sonic (and not by a buncha devs all across North America and Europe), and it does feature this possibly worrying element: During the daytime, the game is regular speed-based Sonic ramps and loops and rails. But! At night, Sonic's hairy alter ego (oh dear) comes out, and the game play changes to monkey-like swinging and obstacle manipulation. Well, at least it's better than human kissing. Never forget!

Thanks, Joe for the tip!

<![CDATA[ Good News About Mario & Sonic? Not Just Miyamoto... ]]> sonicteam.jpg

Shigeru Miyamoto? Busy dude. Yet, the legendary game creator is going to work on Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games. Along with Miyamoto, the game is being created by Sega's sports team instead of Team Sonic — Who have been responsible for the spate of recent, AWFUL Sonic games. But how much will Miyamoto contribute? Nintendo's Perrin Kaplan explains:

I have to say that while, yes, Miyamoto does touch a lot of the products, it varies in terms of how much time he spends. The fact that we're very publicly stating his involvement means that he will have more involvement than sort of the average game. It's definitely something he will spend time with.

The real news here, folks is that Team Sonic is not involved. Miyamoto or not, this game actually has a chance of not sucking.

<![CDATA[ Team Sonic On Why Sonic The Hedgehog Stunk ]]>

Poor, poor Sonic. The once heroic character was subjected to last year's cross-platform travesty Sonic The Hedgehog. The glitch-ridden game received scathing reviews and disappointing sales. So, Team Sonic leader Yojiro Ogawa what the hell happened?

The reason why probably ended up with what we see today, involves a lot of reasons. One is that we did want to launch the title around Christmas, and we had the PS3 launch coming up, but we had to develop for Microsoft's 360 at the same time and the team had an awful lot of pressure on them. It was very hard for the team to try and see how we were going to come out with both versions together with just the one team. It was a big challenge.

That still doesn't excuse the human kissing. WE SHALL NOT FORGET!

<![CDATA[ Next-Gen NiGHTS Sequel Rumored ]]>

Sega Saturn NiGHTS could be getting that long-over-due sequel gossips Famitsu. The game's creator Yuji Naka has publically stated he's against NiGHTS 2, TWO NiGHTS, Another NiGHT, NiTE NiGHT or whatever they're gonna call it. He told the a British Dreamcast mag in 2000: ""I know a lot of people love it and want us to make a sequel, but for us it's a really important game. Like the way Spielberg likes E.T. so much he won't remake it, I don't want to make another NiGHTS." Then, how about E.T. 2?

<![CDATA[ Sonic Creator Ditching Sega? ]]>

Next Generation reports that Hedgehog creator and Team Sonic ringleader Yuji Naka is taking a note from Lumines mastermind Tetsuya Mizuguchi's playbook and leaving Sega to form his own studio. It is possible that Naka's new studio will be allied with Sega, but nothing is certain at this point. Talk about a big loss, especially is the company isn't able to maintain some sort of exclusive agreement with the designer.
