This isn't just anybody - it's Adrian Holovaty! He's the guy who created the Django framework for Python - he's a hardcore, brilliant technologist. [holovaty.com]
Mario 2 is by far one of the most underrated video game soundtracks. Not many 8-bit anthems can be this polished and professional while sounding so close to the original.
@ChibiKyKiske: hah If you close your eyes and listen, it sounds a bit like Mike Portnoy on the kit. Would be interested to know how much this guy was influenced by Dream Theater.
@P3nnst8r: I don't know if it brands me in anyway, but I honestly have never heard of the guy, but based on this small snippet, I believe myself to be poorer for the fact.
Is the above music indicative of his playing style? If he is a kind of acoustic jam musician, then I think I would love the rest of his work.
@zenpoet: To show just how clueless I was about the guy, it was only after googling him that I figured out that the young white guy above was NOT in fact Django, but Adrian Holovaty. The Adrian guy is very good, but I can see how Django was such an inspiration after listening to some of his other works.
@P3nnst8r: I ended up taking art history in college, and got to know a lot of artists I probably never would have known about, but now I would kind of like to see if the U here in town has a music history class I could take at night. Missing out on music like that makes me feel all poopy inside..
@P3nnst8r: I know him from being a straight up music nerd and jazz fan. He was actually considered the second-best jazz guitarist of his time, but the #1 guy was terrified of him because he was essentially as good as he was, but with two fuckin' fingers!
While this is cool, this video guy has far too many (unfused) fingers!

Doki Doki!!!!!!!!!!! It's so funny how SM2 is nothing more than a reskinning of that game. Still ... I love it.

I heart Django Reinhardt.
