CAD's really just awful. The art style, the characters, the incredibly crap storyline. No doubt the brother will be his his grooms man and will say something inappropriate at the altar. Crap.

a) it didn't have the usual stupid, irrelevant violence;
b) it didn't devolve into the usual stupid, irrelevant swearing, but the most likely reason may have been that
c) it likely is a copy of something else someone more talented wrote.

Not the Jonas Brothers, naturally, but some crappy boy band.

Let's start with the RoMicide incident. Tim befriended a 16 or 17 year old girl online and tried to form a relationship with her anyway. Several people pointed out that she was underage, but Buckley sent naked pictures of himself to her. He propostitioned a minor, but was never caught by the law for it. Some members of the RoM subforum at CAD began discussing the incident, and some called bullshit on Tim for his behavior. The thread was deleted; anyone who posted in the thread, or even read the thread, was perma-banned from the forums. The RoM forum was shut down after that in a massive purge of nearly 1/3 of the forum members.
also
Tim asked for money from his forum members to get a CAD server for BF2. After a brief time, he suddenly up and quits that game, (rumor is he sucked and got sick of it) and just takes the money before it was used to pay for another month/whatever time period. He shut down that server; nobody could play on it. He never paid back the money he took - he just basically screwed those people.

If there was any proof of it, I'm pretty sure that the law would be all over it, pal. This, quite frankly, reeks of "I heard Richard Gere had to go to the hospital because a gerbil wouldn't come out his butt."
No one has any proof. No one can substantiate this claim. But it's all obviously a conspiracy, because even the police won't investigate!
In short, I think I have a bridge to sell you. Great deal, it covers ocean front property in Arizona.

The only reason they open is to expand them so you can see them at proper size, and if it's equal or smaller than the width Kotaku has set for them, there's no reason for them to expand.
11:48 AM
Kotaku is a gaming site.
CAD is no longer(or very rarely) a gaming comic.
Therefore, it has no place.
You could at least explain why you keep putting it up despite the hatred for it, the irrelevance of it, etc, if you're not going to stop putting it up.
12:30 PM
That said, most people don't read it and just skip to comments to complain about it.
So maybe they should drop it. That way 1/3 of the threads won't be dedicated to tearing down a comic when everyone already knows it sucks.
12:54 PM
There's a difference between "not strictly concerned with gaming" and "almost never concerned with gaming."
CAD is the latter, and has been for years. If the strip happens to make a joke or reference that's actually about a video game, it's usually in one of the strips that isn't part of his soap opera storyline.
02:28 PM
Maybe Kotaku should just take out the comment section of the comics thread. That would be a better route in my opinion.

I'll take that as confirmation that there's some sort of paid deal here, because I can't think of a single way that would make sense apart from being contractually obligated to post CAD. :\ At the same time I can't imagine buckley makes the money to pay other websites to promote him...and I am sure Kotaku doesn't do that anyway, so I'm truly baffled.
03:55 PM
We republish these strips with permission and link to their sites. No other considerations are made.
Whether you or anyone like it or not, we're putting together a comics page here that's meant to be as broadly appealing as possible. There are some 3.1 million monthly readers of Kotaku. Less than 1 percent of them comment on this post. Fewer than that take the time to share their hatred with CAD every week.
If there's a strip here that doesn't appeal to you, move along. It's a buffet. When there's an item on a buffet I don't care for, nothing obligates me to eat it. But I also don't march back to the kitchen to bitch out the chef for the choice of that particular item.
03:59 PM
I just want to know why non-gaming comics are posted in the comic section of a gaming site. But nobody wants to tell me.

PA's comic had me laughing too. So absurd, and so perfect. Gabe's love of the Olive Garden has finally been put to use.

Basically it's just more humor at the expense of the Jonas Brothers, even though Brütal Legend itself doesn't really "match."
Unless it's making a statement about heavy metal versus Jonas-Brothers music.
01:17 PM
Which is fine, since I don't really like the Jonas brothers in any way, shape or form; it just seems more like he's getting people to say "I too would kill the Jonas brothers" instead of making it funny.
I also forgot to mention that the first panel of 2p start looks magical :D
01:18 PM
Yeah, I guess that makes sense.
Now I can't help but think about the Jonas Brothers playing Brütal Legend. :-P

I think that would have fit much more.
P.A. was quite amusing however.

There's just *something* about the title, "The Greedy Assassin," that gives me the impression that the artists did come up with your idea but went out of their way to avoid it.

Whenever I speak in Vietnamese, my English friends make fun of my bad attempts with the ONLY word they know...
"Oh what dat? You want some phở, man? I give you monay for phở, man!"
10:15 AM
LOL! I wish I still had my Vietnamese friend around, I think we cringed when we went to see Ultraviolet.
Then again...anyone would cringe at Ultraviolet.
11:23 AM
Sadly my vietnamese has gone to hell from lack of use :'(
12:35 PM
Do not use Kikkoman's name in vain.
