Both driving games, one of which was acquired from then bankrupt Acclaim, the other from Atari, were part of a $27 million hit the publisher was expected to take as part of "quality initiatives." That charge also includes the nixing of other titles, some announced, some unannounced.

The latest Stuntman in the series, known as Stuntman: Ignition was singled out as one of the company's underperforming releases of 2007, alongside Ratatouille and Conan. Rest in peace, Stuntman and Juiced. We hardly knew ye (as we didn't play your games much).

<![CDATA[Stuntman Continues to Tease]]> DSC00677.JPG

First they question our testicular fortitude, now the Stuntman Ignition folks want to know if we have what it takes to handle the pain... and included a tiny little medical kit, just in case we didn't. Send us the game already!

<![CDATA[Stuntman Ignitition Tease]]> Odd bit of gaming PR arrived at my house on Friday. This container of racquetballs has Stumtman Ignition printed on one side and poses the question: "Do you have the balls...?" On the other. DSC00675.JPG

Yes, yes we do. We keep them in a little case on our desk. :)

<![CDATA[Stuntman: Ignition]]>

I was surprised at how much fun I had playing Stuntman: Ignition. The game almost felt like a party game, in the sense that it was nearly as fun to watch as it was to play. Def on my list of games to get when it hits.

<![CDATA[Gallery: Stuntman Ignition]]> THQ's Stuntman Ignition for the PLAYSTATION 3, PlayStation 2 and Xbox 360 is looking about as sexy as a current-gen, cross-platform game gets. In addition to being lovely in motion, you'll have the opportunity to finally fulfill your childhood fantasties of rocketing an Italian races car over a flatbed truck, jumping off a ramp, ultimately crashing your six-figure dollar car into a police helicopter.

If developer Paradigm Entertainment can pull off the magical feel of the original Stuntman, we're looking at a solid third-party contender. Check out 8 new screens in the gallery below. I'm gonna go set fire to my car, put it on two wheels, and pick up some groceries.

<![CDATA[What Are You Playing This Weekend?]]> If you've been following my UPS shipments this week, you'll know what I'm up to (Odin Sphere and Moero! Nekketsu Rhythm Damashii Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan 2), but what I didn't tell you about were a pair of additional imports that also landed at McWhertor Manor.

I picked up the bit Generations entry Dialhex, completing the collection, and Kuru Kururin Paradise for the Game Boy Advance, both of which I'll be becoming familiar with for my upcoming trip. On Monday night, I'll be heading to Seattle for the Nintendo media briefing, meaning you'll be hearing about some new Nintendo announcements hitting next week.

I've also got a Stuntman: Ignition event to attend Sunday, one that should offer plenty of motion sickness and hands-on time with the THQ game. Busy!

So, what are you playing this weekend? Check in with us in the comments.

<![CDATA[Stuntman: Ignition Revealed]]> IGN has the first look at the sequel to the hit PlayStation 2 game Stuntman due to hit the Xbox 360, PS2 and PLAYSTATION 3. The original was published by Atari, but the follow-up will come from THQ and will feature 1000% more lava jumping than its predecessor.

The single player mission mode should satisfy fans of the first, but the online mode for Stuntman: Ignition makes things a bit more exciting. From IGN:

The online mode, playable with up to eight players, is where things start to get new and interesting. Here, you'll be able to challenge other stuntmen and steal stunts from them in multiplayer arenas. With the included stunt construction toolkit, you'll be able to plan out your own stunt runs and then take them online to see if anybody can meet your challenge.

Super cool. The game, now under development at new home Paradigm Studios, should hit in the summer time.
