Who's writing the story? The ones in Professor Layton are pretty awful, and I can't imagine a Studio Ghibli story where the protagonists go around hunting local fauna, so I'm a bit worried on that front.
@NeoAkira: Which of the protagonists hunts for sport? The closest to that is Lady Eboshi, and even there she is portrayed as being misguided. Or are you suggesting that Jigo would make a good PC in a Mononoke Hime RPG?
Looks fun! I do wonder what the outcome would have been it if was not aimed at a Handheld though. I'd love to see a Ghibli RPG resonating its fantastic beauty on a widescreen HDTV one day.
Ah I will sit down to...

What the devil? I hit play, and it immediately believes the video to be instantly at its end?
Is this some trick of region locking, or is it that the Internet blocker at my office of work blocks the videos from this web site, but not the actual workings of the site itself, thus still making the video boxes and options appear, but not the videos themselves?
It does seem a little odd, as with YouTube videos, nothing appears but a blank empty gap.
Shame, as I am very interested in this game, giving my love of Studio Ghibli, and my love of Level-5's Layton series.
Studio G is great and all, but Miyazaki has quite a large impact on why some of those films are so great. Lets just hope the story and gameplay live up to the art that Ghibli has.
"Professor! We've got some competition in the "Wonderfully Charming DS Games Category!" What should we do?"
"*Sip* Now now, Luke, there is nothing to fear, for this isn't competition, but actually an ally. See, it's made by the same people who make our games, so be utterly charming in unison. Now drink your tea before it get's cold."
Come now Level 5, you better not let us down. I want Layton's Charming manner and a few of their puzzles, with a dash of RPG, blended into something that is just my cup of tea...

@rich8606: Get a DS, you won't lose much[except money and sometimes time, but gain a lot of games] especially if it's a DS-Lite (except for future DSi only games which don't really look great for now but will change in 2 years) since that costs like £69-89 from the right places and these are the special editions
Indeed, Whatthefrag is correct. The DS is simply one of the most charming systems one can own these days, and if you want to get a feel for that this game may turn out like, try the Layton games by the same game developers. Two are currently out in the UK and US, and both are simply wonder.
@Showmeyomoves!: Falcon, between this and you not knowing there were two Brians on Kotaku last week, I'd like to let you know you've earned a new follower. I just laughed so hard at this ^^^ !!!
@Showmeyomoves!: ;_; Hey now...It's sort of obvious that English isn't his first language. I'm getting a search engine translation from it. At least he's trying to post in English, dood. Then again, that is some good advice you gave him.
@Prinny1God: Trust me, not even Babelfish comes up with "translations" like that. There is no language I'm familiar with that has that kind of grammatical construction.
I'm fairly convinced he or she is actually a native English speaker trying to be funny... (and being quite succesful at it too, I might add).
@Prinny1God: By the way, if it turns out you were right and Tails is actually just really, really, really, really, really insanely bad at English, I'll apologize to him/her.
@wintersault: Laputa: Castle In The Sky (the first Studio Ghibli film I ever watched 20 years ago now, wow...), closely followed by Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind and Kiki's Delivery Service. :)
@wintersault: Princess Mononoke by far, but if Nausicaa had followed the story of the manga, it would have been the best one, no doubt. The Nausicaa movie was such an undercutting of the source material. Pretty much every freakishly awesome thing in the manga was left out. The entire Dorok population (save for the two guys piloting the hovercraft dangling the Ohmu near the end, though no one usually questions their presence), the God Warrior thinking it is Nausicaa's son, the forest people, the immortal Heedra, all the blood and gore, the ending that surpasses anything else I have ever seen... just to name a few. Torrent it or something. I own the books myself, but it was a lofty price.
@Cptn.PaxtonAstypalaea(Corsair): I also didn't like Princess Mononoke as much as well, probably as it was so surprisingly and viscerally/bloodily violent for a Studio Ghibli film (see Showmeyomoves! comment above).
@Maxyboy13: For any of you Miyazaki fans out there, last month's Empire magazine (called the September Issue, with Robert Downey Jr as Sherlock Holmes on the front) featured a 10-page article with him talking about his films.
Don't know how easy getting hold of back issues is though.
@hot_heart: I read Miyazaki and Sherlock Holmes in the same sentence and almost thought they were re-releasiing "The Great Dectective: Sherlock Holmes", AKA, Sherlock Hound.

Perhaps it has something to do with you spitting tea all over your computer.

Not more popular hits in the US like Spirited Away, Howles Moving Castle, or the recent Ponyo. Come on Ash, are you just trying to stump people?

But unless you seen and loved Utena, you probably wouldn't figure that at all.
Just Yoko's pose in your image reminds me Utena, and her hair reminded me of Touga.
Could Yoko be a descendent of Utena and Touga?

Even the Lupin the Third film I think he directed.
Even the Sherlock Holmes TV Series he did, where everyone was dogs.
Spirited Away, Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service, Nausica, slice of life or epic.
I think my least favourite of his works I have seen is Princess Mononoke, surprisingly.

@wintersault: Not a very hard question to answer, since there is only one Miyazaki movie where people get decapitated by flying arrows.
