Does anyone still give a shit about Stargate? I only saw the movie because it came free with a DVD player, and I've never met a single person who was a fan of any of the television spin-offs. Are the Stargate fans all just in hiding somewhere or what?
They shut down Stargate Atlantis because of this piece of shit and now they're canceling it?! DAMN YOU SCI-FI CHANNEL, WE COULD HAVE TOLD YOU ASSHOLES THIS GAME WAS GOING TO FAIL.
this isn't fair that everyone can judge these people on a situation like this. i know some of the people that work for stargate worlds and all of them are trying very hard to get good quality art and design in the game. you can't expect a good game to just happen in a single year, it takes a lot of time and preparation. i feel bad that things have happened to them the way it did but they are trying their hardest to produce a good quality game. oh yeah and one of the reasons they delayed it before was to make sure that the game play was more fun than what it was because they didn't want to disappoint the fans. so everyone out there should be happy that they are thinking of the fans and not just rushing it out the door like other companies would have by now.
I'm kinda reminded of Matrix Online here, a major MMO franchise coming out at the end of a successful studio run. Like MXO, SG1 has a huge fan base, but for this game to 'continue' the story after the series flagship brand(s) have been put on ice and said there peace only hurts it.
It'll cover a very nitch market of those fans who will refuse to let this game die... IF it comes out.
@jackburtonHERO: Surely it would only be true to the source material if players found that the retail game box contained chewing gum, wire and a Swiss army knife - and realised that they were going to have build the MMO themselves?
@( I drink your ) Milkshake!: As much as I love the Warhammer 40K universe for table-top gaming, it would be a seriously depressing universe to live in. I'd far rather spend my time in a Star Trek MMO (or other "bright future" scenario).
@BritBloke916: Strange, I'm the complete opposite, I love getting lost in the epic stories and struggles of it all, and find 'soap opera sci-fi' unpalatable. For me, people having a good time just isnt much fun.

I agree.
I wish them luck, and hope things turn around. The MMO word needs much more sci-fi games out there. So sick, of the swords and sorcery.

I understand what you are saying, but I dont think The Matrix had the fondness and love for it like SG1.

+1
SG1's fan following would dwarf that of The Matrix...in fact, I can't even think of anyone personally that is still a fan of the matrix.

Agreed.
The Matrix story was very fascinating. But outside of that, it was just a edgy rock band one hit wonder like status.

Such a phenomenal series, SG1 is one of the best shows to ever grace television.
Would be interesting how they went about it, and my fingers are still crossed.
