I suppose that the team at Hasbro has a real rough go of it, grunting out new sculpts of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Darth Vader—now with Force choke pinch!—year after year. The marketing department must therefore shudder with glee every time a no-brainer like releasing a pair of Star Wars Battlefront II specific multi-packs gets tossed their way. Timed to coincide with the release of the Lucasarts PSP game Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron, the dual six packs will come in two flavors, a Battle Droid pack and a Clone Trooper pack, each for $29.99.

As a recovering Star Wars toy collector, I feel great sympathy for anyone out there feeling the sub dermal creeps that can only be quelled by spending sixty bucks on twelve repainted action figures. You poor bastards.

New SW Battlefront Content on Xbox

Hm, guess we shouldn't have upgraded from the original Xbox to the 360 just yet. LucasArts says it will release new content for Star Wars Battlefront II this week on Xbox Live. For $4.99, original Xboxers can download premium content that includes two new characters: Jedi Kit Kisto and the evil yet surprisingly hot Asajj Ventress. In addition to that, you get four maps from the original Battlefront.

Battlefront Scores New Maps

Keeping up with other games that released holiday map packs, Star Wars Battlefront II on the Xbox has released some new treats via Xbox Live. There's a premium download coming in January, but to tide fans over until then, LucasArts added an Assault mode Hero Free For All to Kashyyk — which lets the game's heroes (the stars of Star Wars) run around and own dudes. The update in January will bring some new Jedi into the fold as well as some full-featured maps from the original Battlefront, all with the required makeover for the sequel.
