<![CDATA[Your PSP Has Been Encased In Carbonite!]]> Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron hits next week for the PSP, exclusively, right alongside the Star Wars Battlefront Entertainment Pack bundle. That's the one that comes with a Darth Vader portrait screened on the back of a white PSP Slim. To celebrate the release of the game, Sony is hosting a launch party with Lucasarts at PlayStation Store at the Metreon in San Francisco, bringing with them the usual bunch of Star Wars cosplayers, prizes, fireworks, dancing bears, etcetera.

The reason you might actually want to show up? They're giving away Han Solo-trapped-in-carbonite PSP cases to the first 200 folks who buy the aforementioned Entertainment Pack. You'll look at it, your PSP encased in Han encased in carbonite and say "I love you." It will respond "I know." I... I'm tearing up a little bit.

<![CDATA[Star Wars Battlefront: RS]]>
I want to like this game, but I'm not so sure if I will. Part of the problem, of course, is that it's hard to like first-person shooters on a portable, but also the graphics look incredible at times and choppy at others.

<![CDATA[Star Wars Battlefront II Action Figures? Why Not?]]> I suppose that the team at Hasbro has a real rough go of it, grunting out new sculpts of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Darth Vader—now with Force choke pinch!—year after year. The marketing department must therefore shudder with glee every time a no-brainer like releasing a pair of Star Wars Battlefront II specific multi-packs gets tossed their way. Timed to coincide with the release of the Lucasarts PSP game Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron, the dual six packs will come in two flavors, a Battle Droid pack and a Clone Trooper pack, each for $29.99.

As a recovering Star Wars toy collector, I feel great sympathy for anyone out there feeling the sub dermal creeps that can only be quelled by spending sixty bucks on twelve repainted action figures. You poor bastards.

<![CDATA[PSP Gets Exclusive Star Wars Battlefront]]> LucasArts is bringing a new Star Wars Battlefront title to the PSP and only to the PSP. This rare third-party PSP-exclusive title, Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron, centers around a team of Han Solo recruits tackling some unspecified Imperial menace in an 11-chapter single player experience, with 16-player ad hoc/8-player infrastructure multiplayer to keep the action going.

Battlefront series newbs like Admiral Ackbar and the criminally underused assassin droid IG-88 will join the fight this time around. IGN has slightly painful on the eyes screens of the Rebellion Studios-developed game as well as details on new modes.

Don't worry, it's not a trap.
