With Fahey's life-long crusade nearing its rapturous conclusion, Activision have announced that Stan Bush's "The Touch" will be available as a free download for Guitar Hero: World Tour on May 28.

That's today!

While I'd have preferred Lion's rendition of the 1986 film's theme, or even NRG's Instruments of Destruction, I know not to look a gift horse in the mouth.

Esepcially when, knowing Activision, we could easily have gotten this version of the song instead.

<![CDATA[Stan Bush Thanks Kotaku Readers For Their Support]]> Stan Bush's "The Touch" from the 1986 Transformers animated movie will soon be available as a free download for Guitar Hero World Tour, and the man himself thanks Kotaku readers for their support.

Confirming what was reported on Transformers fan site Seibertron.com Monday, Stan Bush passes along his thanks for all of your efforts to get his classic song into Guitar Hero.

Thanks so much for all your support! Because of the overwhelming enthusiasm from fans like you, "The Touch" will soon be available for Guitar Hero! Activision will be offering it as a free download. We did it!

We did it indeed! I was off doing some last-minute moving stuff when the initial announcement was first posted, so I missed out on the initial celebration of the end of our long struggle, but I'm at my best when the going gets tough. I mean, I've been put to the test and it's never enough.

Check out Stan's full message below, and give yourselves a nice pat on the back.

Dear Kotaku fans,

Thanks so much for all your support! Because of the overwhelming enthusiasm from fans like you, "The Touch" will soon be available for Guitar Hero! Activision will be offering it as a free download. We did it!

<![CDATA[Rumor: You Got "The Touch" In Guitar Hero]]> What Stan Bush wants, Stan Bush gets. His motivational power jam "The Touch," featured so prominently in the animated Transformers: The Movie, is coming to Guitar Hero, according to the man behind the song.

Wait... it gets even better. Mr. Bush writes to Transformers fan resource Seibertron.com to let music enthusiasts know that Activision has plans to release the feel-good rocker as a free download. When? Bush doesn't know, but we've pestered Activision spokesfolk to get confirmation and, hopefully, a release date.

If this does pan out, this is excellent news for Guitar Hero owners. Congratulations, Stan. You're not only a winner, you're also nobody's fool.

Oh, and big thanks to Mike Fahey, too, for drumming up support. He may have been instrumental in giving you "The Touch." The good kind.

Stan Bush: Botcon, Guitar Hero, Tribute video and more! [Seibertron - thanks, Chuck!]

<![CDATA[Stan Bush, The Touch, And The Missile Command Kill Screen]]>
Yes, yes, I know many of you sent in tips about Stan Bush's destined for Guitar Hero or Rock Band hit "The Touch" appearing in this week's episode of NBC's retail spy series Chuck, but this particular video was pointed out to me by Stan himself. The song is appropriately used during a montage in which the Buy More store Chuck works at is preparing for a fictional event in which one of the characters - a gaming legend, apparently - is making an attempt at reaching the kill screen in Missile Command, which doesn't actually exist. From Stan the man himself:
I want to thank you for the support and the post regarding the Rock Band / Guitar Hero thing. Still got my fingers crossed. Not sure if you were watching but Monday night "The Touch" was featured on Chuck (NBC). It was awesome!

The man has his fingers crossed! Harmonix! Activision! Heed our words! This must happen, or there will be some sort of dire portents, probably.

<![CDATA[Guitar Hero Custom Track Of "The Touch" ]]>
Okay, if this guy can whip up a custom version of Stan Bush's "The Touch" from the original Transformers the Movie soundtrack, how hard could it possibly be for Activision to do it? I mean, this guy did it for free. Maybe they should give him a call.

Yes, there is a bit of a theme running today, but that's just the sort of thing that happens when they leave me and Adam and Jim alone and head off to Japan. We need something to rally us. A cause. Til all are one.

Thanks Mirai for pointing this clip out!

<![CDATA[Stan Bush Wants "The Touch" In Guitar Hero, Rock Band]]> No, I will not let this topic drop. There can be no real winner in the Guitar Hero / Rock Band war until one song...just one, little song appears in one of the two, and that song is "The Touch" by Stan Bush. Originally appearing on the soundtrack to the Transformers animated movie in the 80's, the song made countless little boys believe that they could do absolutely anything, no matter how many Decepticons got in their way.

The fact that this song isn't in Guitar Hero or Rock Band yet is eating away at me, so much so that I actually contacted Stan himself to see if there was anything I could do to help. When he actually answered me I just about died. Turns out not only would he love to have the song in either game, he even contacted Activision himself. His reply to my email follows!

Hey Michael,

Yes, it would be wonderful to get "The Touch" in either one of those games. I've written to Activision, but wasn't able to get anywhere on it. I'd really appreciate any help.

Thanks,

Stan

Note the "Hey Michael," at the beginning. I'm just going to stare at it a little more before continuing.

Okay. So, Stan needs our help. Specifically my help, but I figured I would let you guys in on it. We need to get this song into a game where we can play it with our friends, possibly while wearing giant robot costumes. To that end, we need to bug the living hell out of Activision and Harmonix. It is vitally important that we do so.

I will go as far as to say that whichever game gets "The Touch" first, will be the only band game I purchase for personal use from here on out. I mean, ideally we would want it in both games, but an element of urgency always helps.

For those of you who have never seen or heard "The Touch", here is the music video from way back in the day, courtesy of Seibertron.com, the most amazing Transformers community site on the planet.

See? It's rhythm band game GOLD. Okay Harmonix, Activision. Ready, set, go!
