The only reason I can imagine for such a grievous oversight is the fact that he didn't actually voice Ezio in Assassin's Creed II. Other than that, his performance is flawless.

Thanks David for passing along the clip!

<![CDATA[Weekend Brings New Star Wars, Batman, Rock Band, True Crime Game Reveals]]> In case you were out this weekend doing something other than sitting at a computer pressing F5 every half an hour, know that you missed a ton of new game announcements.

Yes, the Spike Video Game Awards, held on Saturday night, brought the new shit like it was June and this was an E3 of old, with five games making their public debut at the show. For those who missed our at-the-moment weekend coverage, those five games are:

Batman: Arkham Asylum 2
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II
Green Day: Rock Band
Deadliest Warrior: The Game
True Crime

That wasn't all. We also got our first look at a number of 2010's biggest titles (albeit ones we already know about), namely:

Halo: Reach
Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands
Medal Of Honor
Spec Ops: The Line
Crackdown 2
UFC 2010 Undisputed
Tron: Evolution

Phew. While nothing above was truly surprising, it's still a lot more stuff coming out of a weekend in December than you'd otherwise have expected. Hence the recap.

You can catch the trailers and reveals here, here and here, while you'll find the full run-down of the night's winners (remember this was, before it became a pre-Christmas marketing event, an awards show) right here.

<![CDATA[Spike Awards TV Ratings Tank, Down 26%]]> Ah, the Spike Awards. What better way to celebrate the year's achievements in an ever-maturing and important creative industry than with an evening of advertisements and ill-advised celebrity cameos?

Oh, what's that? You don't agree? You're not alone.

Nielsen ratings for the night show that 680,000 people tuned in last month. That's a 26% drop on last year's figures, and is the second-lowest since the event began in 2004.

Even amongst the show's primary demographic, 18-34 year-old men, the numbers were down, with 29% less viewers than the 2007 show could manage.

Variety points out that the Cowboys/Giants Sunday Night Football game was held at the same time, and may have drawn viewers away, but we're not buying that.

<![CDATA[The Ken Levine Acceptance Speech You Didn't Hear]]> The folks at 1Up were able to pin down Ken Levine to speak with him a bit about the aftermath of BioShock, his upcoming projects and his thwarted GOTY acceptance speech at the Spike VGAs. When asked what he was going to say on that momentous occasion, Levine had this to say:

I had a tireless, amazing team who was on a mission to make BioShock great. We didn't have 300 people or five years. We had an insane amount of passion. I'd like to thank the people who made it with me, the families that patiently waited while we did our thing, the publisher with the guts not to make us change it, and the fans who showed that gamers have a much broader range of interest and intellect than anybody in certain parts of the media or the political space is comfortable giving them credit for.

It's a relatively short article, but there is some great stuff in there regarding his thoughts on BioShock's weaknesses as well as his pick for 2007 GOTY. A nice bit of weekend reading for your early morning coffee or late night holiday booze binge.
