    This is WHY you should play these games on MAME and NOT on consoles, you don't have to mess with this stupid minor details because you are playing just the SAME game directly from the arcade. MAME rules

    Revenge of Shinobi on the Sega Genesis featured homages to Godzilla, Spider-man and Batman. That could spell a lawsuit these days. Which may explain why it's taken this long to see Revenge of Shinobi on any compilation or online service. It's actually my favorite of the 2D Shinobi games.

    There was a trick, I think you had to put Altered Beast in the Genesis, pull the cartridge out with the power still on, then put in Revenge of Shinobi and hit reset. It would be the Japanese version instead (The Super Shinobi) and the only real difference would be the boss after Spiderman actually being Batman instead of the man-bat-thing that it was in the US version.

    @Karlott: That's RIGHT!!! I remember using that trick on Ghouls N Ghosts, Rambo 3, and several other games. You could get some strange things to happen if you did it right.

    @Showmeyomoves!: Italian Spider-Man was made in the past couple years as a parody of things like Japanese Spider-Man. They've even made 10 short episodes of the show. So it gets the unfair advantage of trying to be hilariously bad.
    The most obvious nod is probably Italian Spider-Man riding the motorcycle, much like undisguised Japanese Spider-Man riding a motorcycle in the intro you posted.

    @bangbangblah: He doesn't and he isn't. It appears info about the Hulk being in the game is possibly sourced from Wikipedia.
    I've just checked the original Version 1.00 Super Shinobi, and what happens is You fight an Arnie/Terminator looking guy, who gradually goes greener as you hit him, then the top of the body explodes to reveal the endoskeleton. Not really a Hulk at all.
