I read Trevor Ravenscroft book about this called imaginatively "The Spear Of Destiny" which puts forth the theory that one of the main reasons Hitler went to war was to get The Spear Of Longinus from a museum in Austria because whoever possesed the relic (legend says it is the spear that was used to pierce the side of christ by the centurion Longinus while he was on the cross), would have the power to rule the world. Didn't seem to work much for Hitler did it?
