SDCC sees tons of limited edition toys every year, and these two from McFarlane Toys would surely get my wallet open, silly concept or not. Sold together, the clear CQB Spartan
is joined by the not-so-clear Spartan Soldier EVA "HellSpartan"...basically Spawn-painted Spartan armor. Considering Spawn has been everything from anime to commando to samurai to refridgerator repairman, this really isn't that far a stretch. Right now it looks like some hobbyist kitbashed the thing together, though I am sure it will look lovely sealed in its little, limited-edition package. I'm going to just start sending McWhertor money now, build up a fund so he can grab me one of everything when he stops by this July.

<![CDATA[ Ball Player Making Video Games ]]>

A comic book dude. A sci-fi writer. And a baseball pitcher. All three have joined forces to create "industry-changing games." Spawn creator Todd McFarlane, author R.A. Salvatore and Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling have formed Green Monster Games, named after the huge left field wall at Fenway Park. Schilling is a diehard MMORPG player and has appeared at EverQuest conventions. Details are scant, but McFarlane will be the company's lead artist, Salvatore will be creative director and Schilling will be Schilling.

<![CDATA[ Nobody Cries on Summer Vacation ]]>

Children are not Sony's strongest market segment. They've always gone for the more "hardcore" image and left the touchy-feely sunshine to Nintendo.

Sony Computer Entertainment unveiled a new PS3 title, Boku no Natsuyasumi (My Summer Vacation). The game is classified as an adventure game where you can freely explore a country town. Boku no Natsuyasumi has an interesting concept of trying to bring people back to their carefree childhood days. Players can sit back and fish, search for insects and watch the fireworks at night.

Word on the street is that the game is still in very early production, so who knows where it'll end up. I'm guessing they'll add a Massacre Mode in which you can butcher the entire population of the town with a special Doom Trout you can fish from the local watering hole. The tire swing lynching scene will also be unlockable.
