Fan-Made Sonic 2 HD Remix Coming

Super Street Fighter II Turbo isn't the only classic getting the "HD Remix" treatment, as an unofficial, fan-created remake of Sonic 2 is underway. A team of five superfans from the Sonic "community" have released some of the artwork and animation from the high-def update which can be gawked at SavyGamer. Early looks at Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Dr. Robotnik should give you a clear indication just how pretty this looks. Let's hope they finish it before the cease and desist departs Sega HQ.

Sonic The Hedgehog 2 Sprinting To Xbox Live Arcade

Sega's Genesis classic Sonic the Hedgehog 2 not only ushered in the first in what would become a long line of shitty friends for Sonic, it propelled the blue rodent spiny mammal of the Erinaceidae family to near superstardom in the world of video game platformers. Sonic returns to Xbox Live Arcade this Wednesday with all the usual XBLA goodies—enhanced graphics, updated sound, leaderboards, online multiplayer. All of this for the low price of 400 Microsoft Points.

Anyone who hasn't gotten their hands on a Wii so they can play a little VC can finally forget that regretful day that they traded in their Sega Genesis for a popsicle and a deck of Garbage Pail Kids cards. Amazon has dropped the price of the Arcade Legends Sega Genesis 2 all-in-one from $29.99 to $9.99. That's a $20 difference, which of course in Amazon speak means you now actually have to pay for shipping. That's ok, there were probably some books you wanted to pick up anyway. More »
