@JohnnyK9: True. Here is the problem though, most ubisoft PC games are so terribly optimized you have to have 3x it's system specs to get even a playable framerate. #ubisoft
Do I get the feeling that publishers are wanting a bit more control over their games?
Bypassing the consoles own networking and advertising platforms in favour of their own.
Kinda question the reasoning, and it could start fracturing the market if more publishers start pushing it.
It's like games offering their own separate in-game achievement system, or needing a EA or Konami log-in for online games.
You're like "XBL/PSN/Steam are unified systems, they offer these features, why not use them and make it easier for everyone".
But it's all about control these days. Everyone wants a piece of the pie. #ubisoft
To those who hate Twitter. Maybe you're using it wrong or following the wrong people?
I've picked up some great stuff through twitter, but all of it is through people I choose to follow. I don't even bother to look at the public stream as the signal to noise ratio is way too low. And if anybody follows me, I check their previous tweets before I follow back. Some of the people I follow have lead me to some awesome sites and blogs though.
I'm on Facebook as well, but I only look at it when I get e-mail updates. I hate the whole app/game thing on there as it creates way too much noise. I also have issues with the privacy stuff on Facebook (I'll never post a photo up there).
I find Twitter has a significantly higher signal to noise ratio than Facebook. A lot of that's to do with the way I use them and because I have more control over what I get on Twitter. #socialnetworking
i use both, i'm not an addict by any means... but i don't get all the hate.
if you don't use it why knock it? and do you really think the users care if you hate it? there are so many facebook and twitter users... think about it... #socialnetworking
@Malboro: Facebook gets flack but twitter deserves what it gets, imho tbqh.
Twitter is...it's a breeding ground for the stupidest of hte stupid. It's all the 14 year old girls who have a ton of NOTHING to say and nobody who wants to shut up and listen to them say it, so they post their current thoughts every half a second to twitter so that the people stupid enough to care what they're doing EVERY WAKING MINUTE can know.
It's a social networking site with ABSOOLUTELY NOTHING but status updates! It's a stupid idea, and it's popular amongst the stupidest of the stupid of the internet. #socialnetworking
You are aware that unlike say.. Kotaku, you only read what Tweets you follow. So you choose who you follow, what Tweets you get.
So if you find it full of "4 year old girls who have a ton of NOTHING to say" it's becuase you are follwing them.
Or you've just never actually used it n just retweeting what you heard the cool kids say. ;) #socialnetworking
I'm quite happy to just follow James Stevenson. You just really need the PR guy to be on PR channels like Twitter n Facebook.
As a boss its not really your job. I guess maybe signing up just so you can follow folks ( finding out what your PR guy says about you for one) would be worthwhile. and Facebook is more of a personal thing, let your PR dude set up Groups or Pages.
@D-K, has mastered the dim-mak candlepunch: Some developers would make great use of Twitter.
Some might go make tweets that later end up with "WHY WOULD KOTAKU DO THIS TO ME?"
And some just wouldn't understand it or know how to make use of it.
I think Bioshock 2 has some ARG twitter accounts. the ARG accounts can be cool. Like could of had a account by Nathan Drake or Eddie Riggs or whatever. stuff like that can keep the fans happy n drawn in. #socialnetworking
Well I already have Tim Schaffer, and Will Wright on facebook. I would like for to have him as a friend as well. I got tommy talarico, and marc saltzman as friends as well :D. I also have a number of writers from Kotaku as friends :) and for the love of God would David Jaffe please accept my request already? I never knew Price had a facebook anyway O_O, can somebody link me?

You do know it's a PR rule not to deny people as friends right? If they were proper friends you might spell their names right :)
It's like me saying I have all those folks, in a big list pinned up on my fridge door. I call them fridge magmates. All the cool kids are doing it.
Let me know when you have God on your facebook friends ;) #socialnetworking
I'd like an official open channel on developer pages and interaction in that sense, or occasionally dropping in on podcasts, maybe official podcasts, but leave twitter and facebook for their personal use and have official facebook pages or twitter accounts for the entire developer if you absolutely must have a page.
What they do in their off-time is of no concern to me and social networking applications that the majority of people use for just personal matters shouldn't become part of the job. #socialnetworking
Hmm he's confessing to us that he has a life.....I hate him.
On topic, of course its valuable to the company, but there is a great Insomniac community that has other company peeps popping their heads in and out. I appreciate this mans honesty and personally admire Ted Price.
I really much prefer facebook integration. Not that any of Nexon's games have managed to hold my interest for an extended period of time. I prefer to use one site for "social networking" and leave it at that.
@Methusalah: Facebook is the best social network in my opinion, everyone I know uses it (I don't). As much as I pretend I want to join Nexon I just can't see it being useful, I am not the interacting type.
@Outkastprince: Being married with kids, it makes it a little less painful dealing with the fact that I have almost no chance of keeping in contact with most of my friends and previous acquaintances. It's nice to know whether or not they are still doing well.
I enjoy Nexon so count me in. Hopefully I'll gather up a group of bff's so I can share my unique and extremely disturbing selection of games with them.
