-_- We'll never get a good Hip-Hop game. Hip-hop is about lyricism and I don't think any game could judge the value of lyrics. If there ever is a game all it'll be another karaoke game, a game about is the lifestyle of the artists or sell out and be another mainstream rap game (Loved FFNY, hated Icon and 50 Cent's game...), even then it'll be appealing to the kids that stay at home and think they're the most gangsta kid on the block... in Beverly Hills. Rock games are fun because there are instruments and most of the thrill and essence of rock comes from the notes and from the few things that are said that make a difference and it'll be fun. You can have a gangsta game, but not a hip-hop game.
So if Snoop's coming to Rock Band, I think it'll be one of the few ventures that may be entertaining ventures in the genre. >.> Wonder how it'll play though... Actual Instrumented versions of the songs or just a vocal track. *back on track* I haven't watched MTV in months. Is this the kind of crap that's on? lol
Snoop is one of the few rappers I like, (his voice is awesome), but I'm entirely baffled by him being in RB. I don't seem to remember any guitars or drums in his songs, and I don't see how the mic aspect would work with rap.
@ShaggE: I prefer to imagine it'll actually turn out to be a track pack featuring Snoop covering various other rock classics. I bet he can spin a pretty darned moving rendition of Desperado.
@ShaggE: Snoop Dogg uses a LOT of samples from 70s funk, mostly George Clinton stuff. That was really guitar and bass heavy, so if they stick to his funk-sampled songs, it can work.
And this would then open the door to funk being in RB. I'm all for this, Harmonix knows how choose a fun song.
@etchasketchist: You know very well what I meant. (Unless you really didn't, in which case... wow. I don't even know what to say to that.) A more or less monotone pitch would be rather hard to score properly.
@ShaggE: Drums are ALWAYS in raps and hip hop songs. Do you remember that Dave Chappelle skit where each race responded positively to a certain instrument? White people love guitar, blacks like drums, and Mexicans like electric piano with Spanish gibberish thrown in.
@Stallion187: I've wanted that for years. My friends and I finally found a bar in Toronto that does Hip-Hop karaoke; our performance was so offensive, most of the women in the crowd went to the bathroom or left by the time we were done.
So yeah, fingers crossed for that DLC. But have you ever HEARD the radio edit?

I love good rap, but I'd call neither Snoop nor Dr Dre "classic".

Maybe if you gave me some good rap like some classic Dre but no I am not giving Snoop no more damn money.

Then again, what do I know? I'm not a rap guy. Maybe they use more real drums than I thought.
02/10/09
Well that's going to be kinda hard "singing" his songs when every other word is muted out. Yeah, I'm implying that rapping isn't the same as singing.

That's so funny, I was listening to no fun today, I constantly belt it out at home, my female housemates don't really enjoy it.
A radio friendly version wouldn't do it justice...
"Guess who's back in the mother fucking house, with a fat dick for your mother fucking mouth.."
