Old]]> This reminds me a little of that bit Billy Crystal used to do about getting old, when his teenage daughter asks, "Dad, is it true Paul McCartney was in another band before Wings?"

Slash, who would prefer that I say is of Guns N' Roses fame and not Guitar Hero III fame, gave a Q&A to Rolling Stone this week, and had this to say about an upcoming solo album and his custom Les Paul guitar ...

Which is also what you play in Guitar Hero.

I was very specific about that because they didn’t have a Les Paul in their entourage at that time, and I said the only way we can do this is with a Les Paul.
Has the huge success of Guitar Hero boosted your rep even further?
Yeah, but the flip-side of that is I met this kid who came up to me and was blown away by the fact I was the guy in the Guitar Hero game, and he kept going on about that. Ten minutes later he goes, “Do you play real guitar?”

I can picture Slash, after recoiling in horror at this encounter with a real geek in the wild, immediately seeking to reassure himself of his rock-star status — in the bosoms of about a dozen adoring groupies wearing no underwear.

UPDATE: Oops, this went out early; I forgot to set the posting time correctly. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

<![CDATA[Slash Goes From Guitar Hero To Fashion Hero]]> Guns And Roses guitarist and top-hat lover Slash wasn't kidding when he said that gaming had endless possibilities. The aging rocker is teaming up with long-time friend and Australia's Next Top Model stylist Jonathan Pease to work on a video game centered around fashion and styling. According to The Daily Telegraph, Pease is heading off to Los Angeles to launch the new venture with his Guitar Hero friend, so odds are good that we'll hear something about this new title at E3 next week.

Slash and fashion? Really? How many different combinations of long-hair and top hat can you possibly have? Note that the picture accompanying the Telegraph article features a clean-cut Slash, while his wife sports the hat/hair combo, in adherence with the law of conservation of rock.

<![CDATA[Slash Says Gaming And Music Have "Endless" Possibilities]]> Never mind the drugs and booze, rocker Slash thinks games make folks lazy! According to Slash, games do "promote this sort of lethargy in kids." But does that mean he's against video games? Not at all! According to the guitarist:

A lot of people have been asking 'Is this [gaming] the new wave of how people are going to be exposed to music?' I though that was sort of like a joke question when I first heard it, but I'm starting to realise that, given the current state of the music business, it might be. Because the kids are into it, and the possibilities are endless in terms of what you can expose them to through this medium.

Rock, Slash, Rock.

<![CDATA[Slash Playable in Guitar Hero 3]]> Metal Injection reports that Slash of Velvet Revolver and Guns N Roses fame will be a playable character in Guitar Hero 3. To play as Slash, who did motion capture for the game, you have to complete all of the songs in the game and then face him in a one-on-one duel. No idea what sort of cred Metal Injection has and they don't list a source, but it sounds very conceivable.
